The 2025 West Virginia high school football regular season has come to an end, and schools have learned their playoff fate. 64 teams will be moving on to the postseason across four classes with one goal on their mind: make it to Charleston. Here is one X-Factor player from each representative school in the playoffs.

2026 Wheeling Central RB [player_tooltip player_id='1580716' first='Kade' last='Koroneos'] is having a great senior season for the Maroon Knights and is our X-Factor selection. He's rushed for over 800 yards and 18 touchdowns in just 8 games and is also leading the team in receiving with nearly 400 yards and 3 more scores as well. Koroneos has elevated his game in his final high school season and will be rewarded with more college opportunities soon, with West Liberty being his latest offer. If the Maroon Knights want to secure a state title in 2025, they'll need Koroneos to play his best football yet in the postseason.

He's an easy X-Factor pick when healthy, rushing for 1,400 yards and 26 touchdowns in 8 games. If you squint, you'd think record-setting 2024 RB Connor Lambert was still out there gashing defenses, as Stitt has similar speed and explosiveness. Wahama has a chance to win back-to-back state titles with Stitt on the field, and he could put up some big numbers in the postseason if he gets healthy.

2027 Clay-Battelle QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1881425' first='Corey' last='Coen'] has been a revelation for the Cee-Bees this season and has orchestrated a dynamic offense for one of their best seasons in school history. The dual-threat quarterback is equally as talented a passer as he is a runner, which you wouldn't expect from your typical 5'8 150 athlete. However, Coen can make some high-level throws at times and is an elusive runner that forces defenses to cover the entire field in multiple ways. He'll make the Cee-Bees a tough out in the postseason with a talented supporting cast around him to spread the ball to.

2028 Pendleton County ATH [player_tooltip player_id='951269' first='Colton' last='Roberson'] is well known in the state by now, picking up a Marshall offer earlier this year. He continues to put up video game numbers in the Wildcats' offense, playing quarterback full-time this season and being a standout on defense as well. Roberson has thrown for 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns, while also leading the team in rushing with 950 yards and 19 more scores. If that wasn't impressive enough, he's also leading the team in tackles and interceptions with 116 stops and 3 picks, respectively. Roberson is a special athlete, especially at the small school level, and is the type of player we may not see in Class A for a long time after he graduates in two years.

He's leading the team in both rushing and receiving, totaling 1,800 all-purpose yards and 25 total touchdowns. Lester is a must-offer for D2 programs and will give any defense he faces in the postseason matchup issues. He has rare size and athleticism at the Class A level and will be a matchup nightmare that will force extra eyes on him wherever he lines up.

The St. Marys Blue Devils have a standout two-way player to utilize in the playoffs with 2026 RB/EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='2005994' first='Eli' last='Wilson']. He's a big athlete at 6'1 215 that can carry the load in the running game late in games and punish defenses with his physicality for four quarters. Wilson has rushed for 875 yards and 16 touchdowns so far this season, but his play on defense as an edge rusher is where we project him to the next level, with 53 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks. He's deserving of D2 looks as an under-the-radar small school player to keep an eye on in the playoffs.

Holland is a shifty runner and eludes tacklers impressively and is tough to corral 1-on-1. Although they're the #7 seed this season after finishing runner-ups in 2024, Holland and Dragons won't be overlooked by opposing teams and will be a tough out again.
