5A Postseason Preview: Huge Semi Final Matchups to Watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Happy Thanksgiving! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We're previewing our 5A semi-final matchups tonight, and man, are we set up with some huge games this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We're covering two HUGE matchups tomorrow night between Vigor and Williamson and Scottsboro and Moody- you won't want to miss out!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":1} --> <h1 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline">VIGOR (11-2) vs. WILLIAMSON (12-0</span></em></strong>)</h1> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I CAN'T WAIT for this one. Back in October, these two teams faced off in an overtime thriller where Williamson won 22-14.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Senior QBs [player_tooltip player_id='1603640' first='Sammy' last='Dunn'] (Vigor) and [player_tooltip player_id='1624913' first='Alvin' last='Dinkins'] (Williamson) are some of, if not the top, quarterbacks in the 5A this season. Both have had fantastic seasons, competing at a high level and leading their teams to huge wins against some talented defenses all year long. RBs Demetris Johnson (Vigor) and [player_tooltip player_id='1992366' first='Todrick' last='Withers'] (Williamson) have also found a lot of success on the ground. These are two physical offenses that do a great job spreading the ball around the field; both of them have a really well-balanced approach and will be facing incredibly tough defenses this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Defensively, I don't know if you'll be able to find a better matchup in the state this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These defenses are LOADED with talent in the trenches and secondary. Vigor has a dominant pass rush in EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1189059' first='Jabarrius' last='Garror'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1662978' first='Isaac' last='McNeil'], and a seriously talented corner in [player_tooltip player_id='1635119' first='Miguel' last='Wilson']. All year long, they've been able to lock up some of the more explosive offenses in the state. It's no different over at Williamson. They are a star-stacked unit. DLs [player_tooltip player_id='1075805' first='Demarcus' last='Dale Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1622460' first='Dontaye' last='Bush'], and LB [player_tooltip player_id='1127636' first='Ellis' last='McGaskin'] have bolstered their defensive front, and DBs [player_tooltip player_id='1653623' first='Jaylen' last='Scott'] and Capperlyn Munnerlyn have provided great play in the secondary. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I honestly have no idea who will take this one home. This is one of the most exciting rematches you'll see this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":1} --> <h1 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline"><em>SCOTTSBORO (9-4) vs. MOODY (11-2</em></span></strong>)</h1> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These two teams have not matched up together this season, which could make this an incredibly interesting game to keep our eyes on. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scottsboro has found a ton of success in their rushing attack led by RB Jacobi Edmondson. Edmondson has been an all-around weapon for their offense, hurting teams on the ground and providing a great safety outlet in the passing game for QB Colton Harding. Moody's offense has also found a ton of success. QB Jake Lowery and WR [player_tooltip player_id='1199600' first='Jalijah' last='Rutledge'] have developed an unstoppable connection, and [player_tooltip player_id='401124' first='Le'Kamren' last='Meadows'] is a consistent force on the ground who can carve up any defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Defensively, Scootsboro LB Urijah Biddle has had a massive year, leading the team in tackling and constantly creating key stops for his team. Moody's defensive line could pose some big issues for Scottsboro- [player_tooltip player_id='1183243' first='Cam' last='Mallory'], [player_tooltip player_id='1211631' first='Henry' last='Smith'], and [player_tooltip player_id='378345' first='Ba'Roc' last='Willis'] have all been terrific upfront and definitely have the edge over Scottsboro in that aspect.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Never say never, but this will be a tough game for Scottsboro to come away with a win. Moody has a warchest full of talent on both sides of the ball, but on the flip side, Scottsboro has shown they can grind out some physical, tough wins with their rushing attack. I'm excited to see what happens here- this will be an exciting game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
