is a dominant DL from Moody who completely took over his team’s game against Scottsboro last Friday.
“Smith has a huge presence on the defensive line and can produce in a lot of different ways down in the trenches. Against the run, Smith uses his size and strength to eat up tons of space, close down rushing lanes, and work around OL to get his hands on the ball carrier to create stops.
Smith is just as productive rushing the passer. He has violent hands and speed he uses to quickly work around offensive linemen and get to the quarterback, consistently generating pressure, racking up sacks, and forcing bad decisions with the ball.“
Smith was unstoppable this week, racking up 11 total tackles (5 solo, 3 for loss), and 2 sacks.
Check out some of Smith’s film below, he’s had a heck of a career for Moody:

is a dominant DL prospect out of Moody coming off his best season yet.

Smith is just as productive rushing the passer. He has violent hands and speed he uses to quickly work around offensive linemen and get to the quarterback, consistently generating pressure, racking up sacks, and forcing bad decisions with the ball.
Smith made some huge plays for his defense last fall, ending his junior year with 109 total tackles (20 for loss) and 10 sacks.
Smith currently lists offers from Western Kentucky, Liberty, and UAB- watch out for him going forward, I won’t be surprised to see more schools reach out to him!

is a stout defensive end with clean tape. Acts more as an edge setter, but does offer plenty as a pass rusher. He is already well-equipped to play college ball at 6’4 235 while carrying his weight well.
First-step explosiveness is okay, but he compensates for it with elite handplay and good patience. Blockers have a tough time getting their hands to his chest, which allows him to gradually free himself and run after the QB. As a pass rusher, his ability to hand fight while turning the corner is his best trait. He contains the QB well when the scramble drill ensues, remaining in a position with leverage as he squeezes the QB to the sidelines.
He is best against the run. He is a people-pusher, frequently locking out against tackles to set the edge. When faced with pulling bodies, he does the same, stabbing with his hands and halting their momentum. He anchors down well and finds the ball amongst chaos, allowing him to consistently remain in a position to make a tackle around the LOS.
His upside might not be as high as other defensive linemen in Alabama, but his floor is. His ability to push blockers into running lanes and keep his chest clean sets up the rest of his game.

Smith has a huge presence on the interior and can produce in a lot of different ways. Against the run, Smith uses his size and strength to clog up running lanes. He eats up a ton of space and doesn’t allow for running lanes to be created, consistently helping his teammates take down the ball carrier. Against the pass, Smith utilizes his hands and strength to quickly work around and power through opposing offensive lines. He consistently generates pressure and is able to cause the quarterback to make a lot of mistakes. Smith has picked up an offer from Samford already, as he heads into this next season keep an eye on him, he’s sure to have a big year!

had a heck of a year last fall at Hoover on their defensive front and looks to bring that same impact to Moody’s defense this fall. At defensive end, Smith has a huge presence on the interior of the defensive line and has the motor to make a consistent impact all four quarters. Smith can affect both the run and pass extremely well- if the opposing offense is running the ball, he does a great job eating up space and closing up gaps for the ball carrier. Against the pass, Smith can really impact things with how well he’s able to get into the opposing backfield. He has a ton of power and is able to blow by offensive linemen to provide pressure and bring down the quarterback. Just recently, Smith was able to receive his first offer from Samford! Keep an eye on him this fall, with what he’s been able to do already as underclassmen, he’s going to be a huge piece of Moody’s defense this fall.
