The four smallest classes are already on to their second postseason games on Friday, when the three largest groups kick off their playoffs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, we take a closer look at important student-athletes in Class 4A: </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1827747' first='Cash' last='Parks'], JR, QB, Xavier - </strong>After a great start, Parks' 2024 season was impacted by injury. He didn't let that impede his development, however, returning as a junior year when he's completed 76.1 percent of his passes for 1,523 yards and 21 touchdowns with just one interception. He's added 316 (5.4 YPC) and seven scores on the ground for the top-ranked Saints.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1619687' first='Caden' last='Klein'], SR, QB/DB, Newton - </strong>Klein has been impacting Cardinal games for three seasons, doing so on both sides of the ball for the last two. This year, he's thrown for 1,405 yards and 15 touchdowns against just four interceptions. He's contributed 521 yards (7.4 YPC) and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Twenty three of his 24.0 tackles are solo with 1.5 stops for loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1240470' first='Emmanuel' last='Diers'], SR, RB, Pella - </strong>Diers helped Pella reach last year's state championship game and has returned with a vengeance. The senior has rushed for 1,041 yards (6.2 YPC) and eight touchdowns, and added 31 receptions for 332 yards and four scores. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1240437' first='Bryce' last='Burke'], SR, WR/DB, North Polk - </strong>The Comets graduated a lot of firepower after winning last year's state championship but the play of Burke helped them finish the regular season at 7-2. The senior caught 35 balls for 618 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he produced 13 solo tackles, a fumble recovery and four interceptions. He averaged 25.3 yards on 10 kick returns, and 15.2 yards on four punt returns. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1238506' first='Cameron' last='Cantonwine'], SR, RB/LB, Gilbert - </strong>After lining up at quarterback for Ames in 2024, Cantonwine has shifted to running back and linebacker for a 9-0 Tiger team. He's rushed for 962 yards (7.8 YPC) and 13 touchdowns, caught a 25-yard pass and thrown for a pair of scores. On defense, the senior has piled up 43.5 tackles (32 solo, 3.0 TFL) with a half sack, a forced fumble he recovered and returned to the house, an interception and two pass breakups. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1992066' first='Beckett' last='Verros'], JR, RB/S, Sergeant Bluff-Luton - </strong>The junior has been the most explosive part of the Warrior squad in 2025. He's rushed for 1,019 (10.4 YPC) and 11 touchdowns, adding a pair of receptions for 45 yards. In the secondary, eight of his 13.0 tackles are of the solo variety, and he's also delivered 2.5 stops for loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1619815' first='Hudson' last='Shull'], SR, QB/DB, ADM - </strong>Shull has completed almost 70 percent of his throws for 1,277 yards and 13 touchdowns with four interceptions. He's rushed for 1,033 yards (9.8 YPC) and 15 scores. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1621113' first='Drew' last='Bergfeld'], JR, RB/LB - </strong>The junior has rumbled for 1,172 yards (8.4 YPC) and 16 touchdowns with a two-point conversion. He also caught five passes for 67 yards and a score. Defensively, he's chipped in 11.5 tackles (7 solo). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1619841' first='Trevor' last='Kuennen'], SR, RB/LB, Decorah - </strong>The Viking senior has recorded 46.5 tackles (29 solo, 6.5 TFL), 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and a pair of pass breakups. He's rushed for 737 yards (8.8 YPC) and four touchdowns, and caught six balls for 38 yards and a score. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='856075' first='DreShaun' last='Ross'], SR, RB/LB, Fort Dodge -</strong> The Oklahoma State wrestling recruit is healthy and putting together a heck of a final season on the gridiron. Ross has rushed for 737 yards (9.1 YPC) and nine touchdowns. Forty six of his 49.5 tackles are solo, and he has 33.0 stops for loss, 13.0 sacks and four forced fumbles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
