. Verros has played a big part in the Warriors’ success for their relay races, playing a part in 11 victories so far in 2026 across relay races alone. Verros led the Warriors with 1450 rushing yards (10.1 YPC) and 16 TDs on the ground. From that yard-per-carry average alone, you can tell that Verros is explosive with the ball in his hands, and while he plays at the wing-back role rather than as a prototypical tailback, Verros showcases great vision and instincts on the run, being able to maneuver his way through traffic to find open lanes to attack, and once he does, he uses his speed to break away for huge gains. Verros will likely be the leading work-horse once again for the Warriors’ dominant run-game in 2026.

, who was critical to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s run to Cedar Falls last fall. A slippery, speed demon of a runner, Verros served as both as a wing back for the Warriors, weaving in and out of traffic, avoiding tacklers and then out-pacing them to the endzone. A small, but effective runner of the football, Verros was a tough tackle because of his speed, but also his stature, making his center of gravity difficult go gauge for defenders.
With burst, vision and patience to allow the offensive line to do their job and create holes for him, Verros took full advantage, finishing the year with 144 carries for 1,450 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground, adding two receptions for 45 yards through the air. Because of his size, he’ll likely project to serving as a third-down back or a slot receiver at the next level.

Verros gained my interest when I saw his numbers pile up throughout the season. I went to get a look at his highlights on Hudl, and there weren’t any yet. As a result, I made sure to focus on him when I got to the UNI-Dome for the Class 4A semifinals against Pella. Verros did not disappoint. The junior rushed 16 times for 131 yards (8.2 YPC) and a pair of touchdowns. Verros isn’t a big back, but he can slip through opposing arms and finishes runs with power. His ability to hit the hole hard after locating it with sharp vision might be his best asset. It comes with a good burst and a knack for avoiding defenders with a sharp foot plant into the ground. Verros accelerates quickly through the gaps and hits an extra gear in space. His frame has room to fill out without losing any agility or speed, which would help with durability.
