It's October and that means we're updating all of our rankings across the classes. Last week, we released our first 2029 watchlist. This week, we've updated the 2028 rankings to now feature the top 75 sophomores in Oklahoma! And today, we're continuing our 2028 prospect breakdowns with a look at five quarterbacks who have stood out in one way or another so far this season. We featured another 2028 QB earlier this week in our Top Newcomer article. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2028 prospect breakdowns and every week for a new class ranking update!

Washington quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='473891' first='Creed' last='Barrett'] continues to have a stranglehold on the top quarterback spot in the state's 2028 class. Barrett ran away with the Freshman Of The Year award last fall and has picked up right where he left off last season. We wrote about Barrett earlier this week, before their big district showdown with Marlow. In our opinion, Barrett is not only a solid QB prospect but he's one of those "big game players" and he typically shines in the biggest contests. In that game against Marlow, Barrett ran in the game-winning touchdown with less than 90 seconds to play. Another big game moment from this big game quarterback. Barrett's recruitment should also start to pick up. It began following his freshman season and is starting to gain some momentum again. He's a fun prospect to watch.

We shouldn't be surprised because Norman North has been a quarterback factory for about a decade now. [player_tooltip player_id='1522514' first='Nash' last='Henry'] has exploded onto the scene, becoming one of the state's top passers and that's not up for debate. Coming into this week, Henry has nearly 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had back to back 400-yard games in late September and he's only going to get better from here. Now it should be thrown out that Henry certainly benefits from having one of the state's top wide receivers in this offense. But Henry has been a name that we've been aware of since he was in middle school. He's starting to check a lot of boxes and could end up pushing to be the top QB in this class. He's been very fun to watch and is definitely near the top for the most productive 2028 prospect this fall.

As we write this feature, we have the benefit of having just watched Stillwater's [player_tooltip player_id='1173979' first='Satank' last='Taptto'] in person on Thursday night. He helped guide the Pioneers to a big win over defending champion at Choctaw. We knew that Taptto was a terrific athlete after watching him in person at various 7v7 tournaments. And the arm talent is also there after we caught him in the spring. But he could not be contained on Thursday night. He accounted for all three Stillwater touchdowns and he did it on the ground, running right into the heart of the Choctaw defense. Taptto is a quarterback prospect with a very high ceiling. Because as we mentioned, the athleticism is clearly there. But as he continues to improve as a traditional passer, he's going to be a 2028 prospect to keep an eye on for the next two years.

It's been a rough season for Bartlesville as they've gone through a ton of growing pains and faced the toughest part of their district schedule first. But the Bruins just won on Thursday night and they have the potential to start rattling off some wins. Despite the losses, [player_tooltip player_id='1167484' first='Michael' last='Kent'] has been showing steady improvement at the quarterback position. And one thing we really liked about his game was his overall athleticism after he played on both sides of the ball last season. This year, he's been used at quarterback and is quickly becoming a dual-threat guy with his arm and legs. In the season opener, he threw for over 300 yards while adding over 100 yards on the ground. We are looking forward to seeing how Kent and the Bruins finish off the regular season as they make a push for the playoffs.

Our final quarterback on this breakdown is Deer Creek's [player_tooltip player_id='1828592' first='Dax' last='Chancey'] and he is a signal caller to keep an eye on moving forward because the ceiling is high. We first watched Chancey at one of our PRZ-Next camps when he was in middle school. It was obvious that the arm talent was there and he also passes the eye test. Chancey is also a standout on the baseball field and he could end up having a bright future there. But he eventually won the starting role with the Antlers this season and while this team is incredibly young and going through some growing pains, there have been some bright spots for Chancey in this Deer Creek offense. He was also stepping into a situation where the Antlers were replacing a three-year starter who's now a freshman at Georgia Tech. Buy stock now on Chancey.
