[player_tooltip player_id='1179996' first='Acyn' last='Hansen'] - Senior Quarterback - Jones

The Jones Longhorns are off to a great start to their 2025 campaign. The offense has rolled over their first two opponents but the toughest non-district test comes this week, when they square off with Bethany. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1179996' first='Acyn' last='Hansen'] has led the way for this offense early on and the biggest attribute he's brought to the table is efficiency. The experience he has in the backfield has definitely helped him become a more efficient quarterback that rarely makes the wrong decision. Whether it's throwing the ball or running the ball, Hansen and the Longhorns are going to be a problem this season. They're locked in as a top five team in Class 2A-1 and they show no signs of letting up. We expect them to be in the mix when the playoffs roll around in November and if Hansen is playing as efficient as he has through the first two weeks, they are a serious threat to the state championship streak of Washington.

[player_tooltip player_id='403509' first='Adam' last='Auston'] - Senior Defensive Back - Lawton MacArthur

Lawton MacArthur squares off with rival Lawton High with the city championship on the line. And for the Highlanders, it's an opportunity to get a big win over a strong 5A opponent. Lawton Mac is headlined by multiple D1 signees but senior [player_tooltip player_id='403509' first='Adam' last='Auston'] is a player we're keeping an eye on this week. Committed to Arkansas, Auston is one of the better overall athletes in the state's 2026 class. He passes the eye test as soon as you see him and he's been an absolute dude since his sophomore season. This spring, Auston was also making an impact on offense so it will be interesting to see how much the Highlanders use him there. But in this match-up against the Wolverines, our attention is focused on his skills on defense. Lawton has a breakout player at the running back position and Auston is one of those defenders that feels just as comfortable defending the run as he is defending the pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] - Junior Quarterback - Davis

Davis opened their 2025 football season with a shutout victory over Pauls Valley in week one. The Wolves captured the 2A-2 championship last season and look to defend that title this season. Leading the way for the Davis offense is junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] and he was without a doubt one of the breakout stars of the 2024 season as a sophomore. Now, he's in his third season as QB1 of this Davis offense and he has his team in one of the top games of week two. The Wolves host a Sulphur team that is riding high after a massive win last week. The Wolves struggled against the Bulldogs in their meeting last season but Owens is without a doubt one of the biggest game changers and playmakers in Friday's game. Davis can methodically move the ball up and down the field but Owens is the player that can break a game wide open. If you're not disciplined against the Wolves, Owens can take it to the house.

[player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] - Senior Running Back - Owasso

Owasso has stumbled out of the gate to an 0-2 start after tough losses to Bixby and Jenks. Despite the 0-2 start, senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] has looked fantastic to start the season. Going back to last year, Hall was playing some of his best football at the end of the season. He was one of the best players in that state championship game classic against Bixby. And this season, he's picked up where he's left off and that momentum has just continued. Despite the 0-2 start, Hall has routinely been one of the best players on the field. The Rams will welcome Sand Springs to town and we're expecting a big bounce back effort all the way around for Owasso. Hall has gone from a player who was splitting carries with two other running backs the last few years to being one of the top workhorse backs in the state. In our opinion, he's become one of the top guys at his position in the state's 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] - Junior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Jenks

The Jenks Trojans are 2-0 on the season and they've done it in two different ways. They dominated Edmond Santa Fe on the road and then had to rally to beat Owasso last week. In both games, junior wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] was one of the top standouts for Jenks and he was doing it on both sides of the ball. Coming into this season, we knew all about Dillard's ability on the defensive side of the ball after watching him the last two seasons. But we also knew that he was going to have a bigger workload this fall as he played more wide receiver on offense. And through two games, there's a very real possibility that Dillard leads the Trojans in every receiving category this season. He's been outstanding and quickly turned himself into one of the top two-way players in the state. Not to mention, he's also the punter so Dillard might play more snaps than almost everyone in Class 6A-1.

[player_tooltip player_id='1572513' first='Kale' last='Brakefield'] - Senior Quarterback/Linebacker - Sulphur

Sulphur had the win of week one when they beat Washington and snapped their 45-game winning streak. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1572513' first='Kale' last='Brakefield'] certainly had to feel good as he was making his first career start as Sulphur's QB1 and he was doing it against his former team. Last season, Brakefield was one of Washington's leading tacklers. This season, he's a potential breakout two-way star for the Bulldogs. At his core, he's still a hard-hitting linebacker that loves to play the game with intensity and physicality. But you also throw in the fact that he can make some things happen on offense, including the QB run game and he could have a big year. He's certainly off to a great start after his performance in week one. But now, the Bulldogs shift their focus to a rivalry clash with Davis and that will bring some new challenges as they go from facing one defending champion to facing another this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1709321' first='Malakhy' last='Harris'] - Sophomore Running Back/Wide Receiver - Hominy

Last week we had a chance to watch Hominy in person as they kicked off their 2025 football season. Two things were clear. They have a pretty special and talented senior class. And sophomore offensive weapon [player_tooltip player_id='1709321' first='Malakhy' last='Harris'] is a star in the making. In their week one win over Cleveland, Harris was dominant on the offensive side of the ball. He ran for three touchdowns and caught another score as the Bucks dominated their week one opponent. Now, they host another rival as Pawhuska comes to town. The challenge will certainly be tougher this week and we're fired up to see what Harris is able to accomplish from a production standpoint. Hominy is not lacking skill players so they have the benefit of moving Harris around to different spots for him to be effective. On Friday night, we could end up seeing a shootout as both teams have plenty of firepower. They'll need Harris to play like the star that he's turning into.

[player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] - Senior Running Back - Vian

Vian senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] was hands down one of the best players in the state last season. There were several games where he turned into a one-man wrecking crew where you knew as long as you got the ball in his hands, more times than not, he was going to score. He had a massive junior season and he's starting to pick up where he left off from 2024. The Wolverines rolled over Eufaula in the season opener and now they square off with Kiefer. They also have a week three showdown with Pocola looming next week and that was one of Wright's best games of the 2024 season. But before they can worry about that, they have to take care of the Trojans. Vian is without a doubt a state championship contender with Wright leading the way. But the Wolverines have several other weapons to look out for. However, when you're talking about Vian players to watch, you start with Wright.

[player_tooltip player_id='449184' first='TJ' last='Bradford'] - Senior Running Back - Newcastle

Newcastle is off to a 1-1 start after falling to Tuttle last week. But the Racers look to bounce back against another 4A top ten team with Blanchard coming to town Friday night. Senior running back and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='449184' first='TJ' last='Bradford'] has been one of the more underrated players in the state since his freshman season. Simply put, more people need to recognize the playmaking ability and more importantly, the durability that Bradford brings to the table. He has been incredibly productive since his freshman season and with the Racers trying to make another run in the Class 5A playoffs, Bradford is going to be one of the top players to watch. It continues this week as they face a Blanchard team that has a first year head coach and they're feeling confident after starting the season 1-0 last week. But whether it's on offense or defense, we expect Bradford to be one of the top playmakers in Friday's game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1451368' first='Tucker' last='Koch'] - Senior Linebacker - Union

Union is off to an 0-2 start but they wrap up non-district play with a road game against rival Jenks. And if you've been following this rivalry over the last few years, it's one where you expect the unexpected. Senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1451368' first='Tucker' last='Koch'] was somewhat of an unknown at this point of the season last year. But as the Redhawks beat the Trojans 9-3 in 2024, it was Koch that turned out to be one of the stars of the game. Union played aggressively and relentlessly on the defensive side of the ball. And that attack was led by Koch from his linebacker position. Whether it was countless tackles or making plays in the backfield, it seemed like Koch was always around the ball. It was without a doubt the breakout performance for that junior linebacker and now as a senior, he gets another crack at this Jenks offense. And it's an offense that can strike fast and strike often. Union will need their senior backer to be at the top of his game.
