Every Thursday throughout the regular season, we're going to add three players to our official Prep Redzone Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watchlist. This list will obviously feature the best of the best in high school football in Oklahoma. Any player, offense or defense, in any class is eligible to be added to the watchlist this season. We're looking for players that have the ultimate impact on their team. Whether it's filling up the stat sheet or having that clutch gene, we want the “it” players that have whatever “it” is. On this week's installment, we're adding three more players. A junior quarterback that led his team to a state title last year and they are back in the mix this season. A junior wide receiver that is a critical part to one of the best offenses in the state. And a senior quarterback that has transitioned from an 8-man quarterback to leading one of the top Class A-1 teams this season. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every day for new content throughout the 2025 football season! And check out our past posts at the bottom of this article to see who else is on the PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watchlist!

[player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] - Junior Quarterback - Davis

Defending 2A-2 champion Davis is looking to defend their crown this season and they've gotten off to a great start. Despite a tough rivalry loss to Sulphur, the Wolves are 2-1 and there's no doubt that they've been tested as they go into district play. Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] is one of the more underrated players in the state and more people need to start talking about his abilities as one of the best athletes in the state. Last week was the perfect example as they won a stunning game in overtime with Owens having complete control of the offense and beating their opponent with his arm and his legs. Last season, Owens led the Wolves all the way to the state championship and he's in a good position to do that again in 2025. In our opinion, Owens checks off every single box when you're talking about some of the best players in the state. He can fill up the stat sheet, play at his best in the biggest games and when the lights are brightest and he is just a winning competitor. There's no doubt that Owens is one of the best players in the state and belongs on this list.

[player_tooltip player_id='492378' first='Deakon' last='Jones'] - Junior Wide Receiver - Stillwater

The Stillwater Pioneers look like one of the best teams in Class 6A-2 and have to be considered a serious contender for the gold ball. Their offense is a big reason why and specifically the two-headed monster they have at wide receiver. Leading that duo is junior wideout [player_tooltip player_id='492378' first='Deakon' last='Jones'] and he's in his third season as a starter for the Pioneers. Last year, he firmly established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the state. This season, he's gotten bigger, faster and stronger. When you combine that with his reliable hands, precise route running and overall athletic ability, you have a massive weapon to utilize in the passing game. Jones made it a point to get stronger this offseason and that's only made him a more intriguing prospect moving forward. The Pioneers are coming off a tough loss on the road to Carl Albert but Jones had his best performance (so far) of the 2025 football season. He's starting to gain momentum and he's certainly going to be a name to watch. If the Pioneers do end up contending for that state title, Jones will be a big reason why.

[player_tooltip player_id='935005' first='Kane' last='Foreman'] - Senior Quarterback - Pawhuska

Pawhuska senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='935005' first='Kane' last='Foreman'] is a player that we were very intrigued to watch this season. He's been a starter at the 8-man level for the last few years but this offseason, he moved to Pawhuska and is leading this Husky offense. In Pawhuska's first three games, Foreman played lights out from the pocket. He has been incredibly accurate and Pawhuska is once again one of the offenses that you have to look out for, regardless of class. We caught Foreman in person last week when they hosted Woodland. The Huskies were carried by a strong rushing attack that night and Foreman even showed that he'll be a problem as the Huskies get near the goal line with some short touchdown runs. His numbers are really strong so far and they should get even stronger as the Huskies get more into district play. We watched the Pawhuska quarterback a few times this offseason and he impressed us both times. But we were curious how he would look in the 11-man game this fall. So far, it's looked like an easy transition and he has the Huskies in a great position.
