It's game week! We have the whole season in front of us, but the question is who will cement themselves on our radar in week 1?

For the second year in a row, [player_tooltip player_id='913846' first='Brayden' last='Daniels'] will have to square off against one of the best defenses in the state in week 1. Last year, he got off to a solid start against eventual state champion Cass Tech. This season, the Rams will need him to take that next step to avoid the bit of disappointment they felt at the end of last season. He'll look to do it in week 1 against Saline on Thursday night. Daniels has all of the tools. Live arm, good decisions, extending plays and feeling the pocket. If he can put it all together and do it consistently with poise while handling what should be an elite Saline defense, Rockford could come away with a monumental win to kick off the 2025 season.

One of the big questions for Orchard Lake St. Mary's this season is how can they follow up on their incredible success of 2024. As usual, the quarterback position will be the X-factor. [player_tooltip player_id='489263' first='Jabin' last='Gonzales'] has had some solid offseason performances over the last few months, but doing it week in and week out against their schedule is difficult. They open up with a solid Portage Northern team this week, and it could be a great way for Jabin to showcase what he can do. He has arm talent, he has athleticism, he just needs to put a full game together and get a feel for things at the helm for OLSM. If he is able to put out a solid performance this week, we could be in for a spectacular season from JG.

There is a ton of hype around [player_tooltip player_id='977789' first='Jayden' last='Bell'] and what he can do. Only a 2028, he has pushed himself to become the #1 EDGE in his class, and #3 overall. He will have a HUGE opportunity to break onto the scene and establish himself as a game wrecker as he takes on Macomb Dakota, a regular deep playoff run type team that tends to be extremely efficient offensively. Bell has great get-off, great bend and the ability to pull off multiple moves as he gets into the backfield. Brother Rice as a program is moving in the right direction, and it's the young underclassmen like Bell that are doing a ton of heavy lifting for the Warriors. This will be a huge tilt for the Detroit area and Bell could put his name all over this game with a great performance.

Mona Shores is never shy about playing some tough competition to start the season. This week they'll do that again as they play host to Grand Blanc on Thursday. QB transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1652721' first='Joe' last='Thole'] makes his way from Portage Northern with a chip on his shoulder. In a game that could come with a flurry of points, it will be fun to see if Joe is able to work his way up and down the field and keep up with a Grand Blanc team that should have some fire power offensively. Going toe to toe with a great offense like that could be a massive statement not only for Thole, but Shores as a whole. Mona Shores expects to go far into November year in and year out, and this season will be no different. Monumental game in week 1 for [player_tooltip player_id='1652721' first='Joe' last='Thole'] and his Mona Shores squad!

Speaking of transfer quarterbacks, here's one you absolutely need to have an eye on. [player_tooltip player_id='1173539' first='Braylon' last='Jefferson'] makes his way over from Hudsonville, and will look to lead Grand Rapids Northview to another great season. Northview seemingly came out of nowhere to take their division in the OK conference, and go 9-0 in the regular season, before eventually falling to state runner up Byron Center in round 1 of playoffs. Jefferson will get his first action against West Catholic, who is a mainstay program in West Michigan. This could be a big-time opportunity for Braylon to put his name out there and show he is for real. He has the arm, he has the legs, he has the confidence. Putting it all together against GRWC in week 1 is a tall task, but if anyone can do it, Jefferson is on the short list of guys that can.
