The Northview QB was the class of the field on Sunday as far as I’m concerned. He has it all. Good size, consistency from his footwork and throwing motion, and the rare ability to put the ball on a dime to any part of the field. It didn’t matter if it was a quick slant, a tough out, a deep post. It was thrown with great velocity and accuracy. Pair that with his noted speed and athleticism, and you see why teams at the next level are falling in love. Absolutely going to be one of the top QBs to watch for this fall.

Braylon was exactly on par with what I’m used to with him. Not a ton of passing volume, but I think he did a solid job in the few throws I did see. When it came to throwing the football, I thought Braylon did well. Very few mistakes, all throws catchable, and he looked calm and collected throughout. The GRCC defense did a great job getting to Braylon, and I do suspect the opposing defense was a bit faster than what he’s used to.

I’m looking forward to watching Braylon face off against Grand Rapids Catholic Central next week. No matter what, he’s rising in the rankings. I’m even considering placing him at #1. Right now, he’s hovering around QB5.
For one, Northview airs it out a lot. Through the first four weeks, Braylon had 96 pass attempts. Only looking at highlights, it’s obvious that Braylon is able to complete any throw in any situation. There are a few (like the post against Sparta) that are sensational. I also know that Braylon has had some clutch moments this season, which is something that I genuinely value.
I also watched Braylon a few times this past summer, which helps. I know he’s got the mechanics down, I know he’s got a rocket arm, and so far, he’s outperformed my expectations for the season. I do question Braylon’s efficiency, and I’ll have to dive deeper into the tape to get a better idea of his IQ. I know I’ll be ranking Braylon higher than QB11- I just have a little more homework to do.

Braylon has impressed early this season. He’s a playmaker who has poise under pressure and the arm talent to push the ball downfield consistently. This is a guy who was meant for the RPO style. On tape, he displays the ability to deliver balls even with defenders bearing down, keeping his eyes up and finding ways to get the ball to his wideouts. His timing and rhythm on shorter throws are perfect, typically hitting the receiver just as they come out of their break. Athletically, Braylon is as advertised as well. He can escape the pocket, extend plays, pick up yardage when the opportunity presents itself, or he can throw on the run and off platform comfortably. Through the first stretch of the season, Braylon has done an excellent job leading this Northview team, and he is a key reason why they continue to win games.

Man, am I excited for Braylon this season!
Braylon showed UP against West Catholic. The first highlight is a perfectly accurate deep ball to his receiver running a post. The coverage was pretty tight, but the throw was perfect. His second highlight is even more impressive. Pressure in his face, forced to throw off his back foot, but still hits his receiver in stride, again running a deep post. Braylon’s week 1 tape shows accurate ball after accurate ball. I heard a little about Braylon’s performance on the Local Legends podcast, but I didn’t expect the tape to be this good.
This highlight tape alone moves Braylon up the rankings. As long as Braylon plays similarly for the rest of the season, he’ll earn a rankings boost. Big-time breakout player.

Speaking of transfer quarterbacks, here’s one you absolutely need to have an eye on.
Braylon Jefferson

makes his way over from Hudsonville, and will look to lead Grand Rapids Northview to another great season. Northview seemingly came out of nowhere to take their division in the OK conference, and go 9-0 in the regular season, before eventually falling to state runner up Byron Center in round 1 of playoffs. Jefferson will get his first action against West Catholic, who is a mainstay program in West Michigan. This could be a big-time opportunity for Braylon to put his name out there and show he is for real. He has the arm, he has the legs, he has the confidence. Putting it all together against GRWC in week 1 is a tall task, but if anyone can do it, Jefferson is on the short list of guys that can.

I’m pretty bullish on Braylon, as he comes in as my QB11.
He’s also my 2nd highest-ranked 2027 QB from West Michigan. I’ve seen Braylon in person several times, and I can confidently say that Braylon has the arm, mechanics, and IQ to lead Northview back into the postseason. Alongside a few weapons I’m excited about, I feel that Braylon will hit the ground running. I view Braylon as an improviser, in the same bucket as Caleb Williams. Not an elite athlete, but will run when convenient. Will make big throws, but will probably experience some growing pains early in the season.
I’m expecting big things from the Hudsonville transfer!

Braylon is one of several Class of 2027 QBs expected to break out this Fall. Considering this QB class is still pretty dang wide open, Braylon still has a legit shot to be in our elite tier of QBs.
I don’t feel the need to say a whole lot about Braylon’s abilities. In short, Braylon has the arm, he has the mechanics, and he isn’t a bad athlete either. He’s had an extremely productive offseason, and all signs point toward Braylon having a breakout season at Northview.
The biggest question mark, like SEVERAL of the “top QBs” in this class, is performance on Friday Nights. Braylon doesn’t yet have much varsity experience. Perform lights-out, and Braylon could find himself in the top 5 of my rankings. Now, he’s hovering around #9 – #12.
In order to be an FBS guy, Braylon has to consistently make those high-level throws. Accuracy is the most important. Timing is important. It’s also a little more uphill for Braylon from a recruiting standpoint, as It’s pretty obvious to me that colleges don’t have a magnifying glass on GR Northview as they might for select Detroit-Area schools.

has made the transition out of Hudsonville and over to Grand Rapids Northview, making him an incredibly interesting storyline to follow this season. An up and coming QB taking the helm for an up and coming school who just went 9-1 with their only loss coming to eventual state runner-up; Byron Center.
Jefferson has a ton of great traits that makes him so impactful. His ability to scan the field and make quick and confident moves is well above average. He has good arm strength and is able to fit it into tight windows, undoubtedly repped over and over in his 7 on 7 career. On top of his arm, he has lively legs and is able to manipulate the defense with his legs just as effectively. It will be a learning curve for him as he takes the helm, but the tools are there for a lot of success.

Braylon is getting his opportunity at Grand Rapids Northview after spending his first two years at Hudsonville.
This is a Quarterback with all of the tools, but time will tell whether he’s a great Varsity QB. Braylon is an experienced 7on7 player who can read the field and get the ball out quickly. Plus, his arm strength, throw power, and accuracy are right where they need to be. There’s a little bit of a dual-threat ability there, too.
My gut feeling is that Braylon will go through some ups and downs next season. Week 1 against West Catholic will be one of the most difficult tests of the season- I’m looking forward to that one. Other than that, Northview has a balanced schedule with another big test against GRCC during Week 8. Let’s see if Braylon can hit the ground running early with Northview and lead this team back into the playoffs.
