The top receiver in all of Class A last year with 100 receptions for 1,159 yards and ten touchdowns, Keenan Kilburg of Bellevue will make the leap to 2A competition this fall.

A small, quick receiver that can beat the defense deep with his speed and tracks the ball well, Kilburg has served as a deep threat that can help his quarterback when plays get off-schedule, but also as a possession receiver who can make things happen in the open field.

One of the few tight ends that make the leading receiver lists is [player_tooltip player_id='1370695' first='Brayden' last='Hoben'] -- one that's listed as a tight end, anyway. The 6'5", 220-pound pass-catcher is often split out wide as a hybrid tight end and was productive doing so or Grandview Christian in 2024. Last season, he grabbed 43 catches for 809 yards and seven touchdowns.

With his frame, Hoben shows "go up and get it" capabilities, while also possessing a catch radius that allows him to reach out and snag passes that few other pass-catchers can replicate.

One of the top two receivers for Woodward-Granger last fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1370717' first='Kane' last='Mahler-Moreno'] will likely be the top option for his dual-threat gunslinger, [player_tooltip player_id='1242840' first='Talan' last='Fuson'] this year. Last season, Mahler-Moreno grabbed 34 catches for 749 yards (22 yards per catch) and 11 scores. An 89-yard touchdown reception, where he tracked the ball and hauled it in at the last second, definitely helps out those averages, but Mahler-Moreno's yards per catch numbers are among the best in the state.

Like Hoben, he and his team will be moving up from 1A this fall.

The lone player on this list that actually played in 2A last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1635070' first='Adam' last='Brophy'] is the top returner that stuck around in the class after posting 52 receptions for 626 yards and seven scores.

A receiver with ball-skills, Brophy served as a deep threat for Anamosa. Showing the ability to consistently track the ball and come up with tough catches, but also capable of leaping and snagging the ball away from opposing defensive backs, Brophy is a weapon in the passing game for the Blue Raiders.

The No. 3 prospect in the class of 2027 and the No. 1 ATH, [player_tooltip player_id='1197438' first='Jaxx' last='DeJean'] is back for his junior season for OABCIG. The younger brother of Super Bowl star and former Hawkeye, Cooper, DeJean has some big shoes to fill for the Falcons, and he's done that so far in Ida Grove.

Moving up from 1A where he posted 57 receptions for 620 yards and two touchdowns, DeJean clearly inherited similar genetics to his brother. A smooth runner of routes as a receiver, DeJean finds ways to get open, and when he's in the open field, is a fluid athlete that can weave in and out of crevices.

With offers from programs like Iowa, Kansas State and Michigan, DeJean is one of the more heavily-coveted prospects in the state.
