It was #1 Bixby & #2 Owasso in a rematch of last year's state championship classic. It had all the makings of a major heavyweight fight but it ended up being a first round knockout. Bixby jumped out early and often on the Rams and would run away with a 49-21 victory. In this breakdown, we put the spotlight on ten different prospects that stood out from both teams on Thursday night.
[player_tooltip player_id='415161' first='Braeden' last='Presley'] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Bixby

It was a solid start to the senior season for OSU commit [player_tooltip player_id='415161' first='Braeden' last='Presley'] on both sides of the ball. First, Presley showed his abilities on defense, locking down his opposing receiver on multiple attempts, including one in the end zone. But he also led the Spartans in receiving on offense. And the two touchdowns he scored were massive highlights for Bixby. First, Presley made a catch on a simple route along the Bixby sideline. He then manuvered around opponents until it was time to drag an Owasso tackler three to four yards into the end zone. Next, it was a pitch and catch situation as Presley had a go route and was targeted for an 87-yard touchdown. Two catches, two touchdowns, totaling 125 yards along with lockdown cornerback duties. Presley's best performance last year came in the final game and he's continued that momentum into 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='284114' first='Carson' last='Kirby'] - Senior Quarterback - Bixby

In our preview show earlier this week, we mentioned how Bixby senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='284114' first='Carson' last='Kirby'] got out to a rocky start against Owasso in the season opener last year. There was no slow start on Thursday night. Early on, Kirby led multiple touchdown drives without being slowed down. He was doing it with his arm and his legs on Thursday night. The highlight undoubtedly was the first touchdown on the night when Kirby rolled out to his right and decided to take off. An Owasso defender came at him near the end zone but Kirby leapt over him and into the end zone for the first score of Bixby's 2025 campaign. Overall, he had four carries for 28 yards and also went 11-16 for over 200 yards and several touchdowns. We had Kirby as one of the players to watch coming into this week's biggest games and he certainly lived up to the hype and he did so immediately.

[player_tooltip player_id='402368' first='Carter' last='Langenderfer'] - Senior Defensive Back - Owasso

Owasso senior safety and Oklahoma State commit [player_tooltip player_id='402368' first='Carter' last='Langenderfer'] really looked the part on Thursday night. He has for a while now but watching on the sidelines, it looks like he's gotten bigger since the end of last season. When he was standing near the line of scrimmage, he didn't look out of place standing next to linemen, linebackers or guys thought to be bigger. And he was standing next to the line of scrimmage quite a bit on Thursday night. The run support that the future Cowboy gave the Owasso defense was our biggest takeaway to his performance on Thursday. But an underrated part was he even got some run on the offensive side of the ball early on. He's a big athlete that could give this Owasso offense a boost down the line. But for now, and what lands him on this breakdown was his heat-seeking missile mentality when he lined up in the secondary.

[player_tooltip player_id='414994' first='Cord' last='Nolan'] - Senior Linebacker/Running Back - Bixby

Three years ago, Bixby's [player_tooltip player_id='414994' first='Cord' last='Nolan'] was a freshman and he played in his first varsity game and it came against Owasso at TU. He had a sack in that game and it was the beginning of a very successful career. Nolan, a Texas Tech commit got his senior season off to a great start by dominating on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Defensively, he led the Bixby linebackers and they did a great job of containing the Owasso rushing attack and putting pressure on the quarterback. Offensively, Nolan also got plenty of snaps in the backfield. Whether he was taking direct snaps or being handed the ball as a traditional running back, he had a solid performance on offense as well. Nolan scored a touchdown on the ground and he has the chance to put up numbers this season, similar to what we saw from Cooper Parker last year as an unquestioned two-way star for Bixby.

[player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] - Senior Running Back - Owasso

Owasso senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] had to go to work on Thursday night and he ended up working for everything he got for the Rams. He finished the night with 16 carries for nearly 150 yards and a touchdown. That touchdown came late in the game on a 74-yard score. Every time Hall got the ball, specifically in the first half, he was swarmed and had to make something happen. He had to work for every positive yard. But we are very impressed with the way he finished the game on Thursday night. As we see with almost every game at the start of a season, multiple players on both sides got hit hard with cramping. Hall was one of those players and he was worked on quite a bit on the Owasso sideline. But some of his biggest runs, including the 74-yard touchdown came after he cramped up. Even playing hurt, Hall was able to show that game-breaking ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045556' first='Jayson' last='Moll'] - Senior Running Back - Bixby

There was no doubt that this game was going to be somewhat personal for Bixby senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1045556' first='Jayson' last='Moll'] on Thursday night. Moll moved over to Bixby from Owasso back in the spring and he has a successful career at Owasso, while splitting carries with Hall and another Ram running back. But now, Moll looks like he could be the featured back in the Bixby offense. But as we know after watching the last decade of Spartan football, they really like to spread the carries around so don't expect Moll to carry the ball 20-25 times a game. On Thursday night, the Bixby senior finished with 12 carries and he went for 106 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was when he got loose for a 49-yard scamper. We also like what Moll will be able to give Bixby out of the backfield as a pass-catcher. Moll is electric with the football in the open field and that was on full display.

[player_tooltip player_id='911962' first='Julius' last='Wilson'] - Senior Wide Receiver - Owasso

Owasso senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='911962' first='Julius' last='Wilson'] is part of a three-headed monster at WR for the Rams. Wilson is also, in our opinion, one of the most underrated prospects in the state's 2026 class. Whether it was early in his career at Holland Hall or now at Owasso, Wilson is one of the better playmakers in this class and should get more credit. Thursday's game was another example of that. He made two catches that were outstanding for the Owasso offense. Both times, he was thrown essentially a jump ball and both times, he had perfect body control, went up at the right time and snagged it out of the air. The first time he did it, it was the first Owasso touchdown of the 2025 season. He ended up leading the Rams in receiving yards with five catches for 70 yards and that impressive touchdown reception in the first half. This could be a sign of things to come.

[player_tooltip player_id='528027' first='Kaeden' last='Penny'] - Junior Offensive/Defensive Lineman - Bixby

Bixby junior offensive and defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='528027' first='Kaeden' last='Penny'] was the best prospect on the field Thursday night. Penny has emerged as one of the state's very best on the offensive side of the line of scrimmage. But he was also incredibly impactful on the defensive line. Bixby is somewhat small up front but Penny gives them size and he gives them an absolute force on the line of scrimmage. He's being recruited primarily as an offensive lineman but he has plenty of offers to play defense at the next level. But Penny looks like your prototypical offensive lineman prospect. And with Owasso having arguably the state's best defensive lineman, we got to see these two bulls lock up quite a bit on Thursday night. And we won't act like we saw every snap that these two were going one on one but in the snaps that we did see, Penny held his own and frequently dominated the match-up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1831002' first='Nathan' last='Hobbs'] - Junior Linebacker - Bixby

Almost every name on this breakdown is already well known around the Tulsa area. The stars definitely shined on Thursday. But we also saw a massive breakout performance from Bixby junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1831002' first='Nathan' last='Hobbs'] as he was one of the best defensive players on the field. Hobbs had a really good sophomore season in 2024 but he was still overshadowed a little bit at the linebacker position with Nolan also returning this fall. Hobbs deserves the spotlight after Thursday night's game. He was one of the team's leading tackler and he was just an absolute maniac from start to finish. It seemed like he was around the ball on every Owasso snap. He was making hard hits, sacks and he also had multiple pass deflections. He's a heads up player that even when he couldn't get close to the quarterback, he had the vision and ability to still impact multiple plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] - Senior Wide Receiver - Owasso

This time last year, we were writing about the emergence of Owasso senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] as he could not be stopped in the season opener against Bixby. On Thursday night, under the bright lights at TU, Bethel was at it again. While he didn't have the kind of performance that we saw from him last season, he was still incredibly impactful. He finished with five catches for nearly 60 yards and a touchdown in the second half. But what got our attention was Bethel's play on Owasso's first possession. Dealing with false start penalties, the Rams faced third and long on several occasions. And it seemed like every time they needed to convert, Bethel was the guy for the job. He got out to a fast start and again, had a really solid performance in the season opener. He will once again be a name to watch in this Owasso offense, that has quite a few playmakers.
