First, he can step up in the pocket and make accurate throws. Matt has the ability to use his big-time arm to launch the ball down field. He also can make quick decisions with the ball. Using the read option to trick the defense or pitching the ball at the last second, Matt shows poise and brings a sense of calmness as a quarterback. He doesn't just have quarterback intangibles. Matt is a physical specimen. Standing 6 '4 and weighing 210 pounds, he can run and when I say run, I mean he will run you over. Matt is not afraid of contact and can scramble when he wants too. The moment is never to big for him. The sky is the limit for what Matt can do this year.

While Brock didn't have the biggest night statistically speaking, he still made a huge impact on the field for Bay Port. He caused chaos in the backfield multiple times relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback. He will never take a play off and will go full steam ahead every single down. It rare to you see a player of his caliber make a huge impact on special teams as well. Brock was working on kickoff return and even played a little fullback on offense. When he trotted out on offense, Brock created huge holes for [player_tooltip player_id='1801490' first='Brady' last='Moon'] to run through. Coming off an impressive junior season, Brock started off his senior season well and impressed with his versatility. I expect Brock to have a huge senior year for the Pirates.

Brady runs with so much force. Rarely does he go down with the first hit. At times it feels like it takes an army of defenders to tackle Brady. When he runs, he welcomes and absorbs contact. Brady will bounce of off hits and get his powerful legs trucking for more yards. The biggest strength to his game is his speed. Once Brady gets to the secondary, he has the speed to have a house call. On one occasion, Brady received a screen pass and flew up the sideline for a 40 yard score. He darted to the outside and like a bolt was gone and in the end zone. There is a lot to like about Brady's game and I think he is poised for another huge season at running back

Bay Port was without their top offensive lineman in [player_tooltip player_id='1361650' first='Aiden' last='Dirksen'] (PWO for Wisconsin) but that didn't stop Lukas, a returning starter from making a huge impact in the trenches. All night Lukas was opening up huge holes for Bay Port and mauling defenders in the way. I was most impressed with his movement after the snap. Once the play began, Lukas got to his spot and would not let up. His motor never stopped and it paid dividends for Bay Port's big win. Lukas is quietly becoming an all-around stud on the offensive line for the Pirates.

Jackson was making plays left and right. Defensively he is very fluid in the secondary. He always seemingly to be around the ball. Jackson displayed excellent coverage ability and broke up a few passes on the night. He also wasn't afraid to lay the wood at the line of scrimmage. As a two-way player, Jackson was a go to receiver for the Pirates as he caught a long touchdown right before half. He has exceptional long-speed and is hard to catch once he gets going. Bay Port moved him around in motion quite a bit and I can see Jackson making plays and getting the rock even more as the season progresses.

Oliver might have been the most impressive player from the game. The senior linebacker was flying around from sideline to sideline. At 6 ‘0 204 pounds he was persistent on defense. Whether it was filling holes or tackling in open space, Oliver seemed to be all over the field. As a tackler he is a wrecking-ball. It didn't matter what angle or where Oliver was coming from on the field, he would blast the ball carrier. Almost every time I would look up Oliver was making a tackle. He also displayed coverage ability with a pick-six for Middleton and a pass deflection where he jumped high up in the air and knocked away the ball at the last second. As a Salisbury University commit for Lacrosse, Oliver really showed off his athleticism and showed his growth from his junior year to this year.

Coming into this game I knew of Joey as a gunslinger. While he still can rip the ball as good as any quarterback in Wisconsin, I was extremely impressed with his improvisation and scrambling skills. When he would have to move around the pocket, it never seemed like he was flustered or uncomfortable. Either he would scramble enough for one of his receivers to flash open or he would tuck it and run and make a defender miss. He displayed some juke moves that most skill position player don't even have. As a passer Joey had a couple fast balls that he rifled down the sideline to his receivers. Joey will only get better throughout the season, and I expect big offensive numbers from the senior quarterback this year.

Elijah is electric with the ball in his hands. Middleton gets him the ball in any way they can. He has the speed to run on the outside of the hashes but also can pound it up the middle when needed. He is a very versatile player and makes defenders miss in a variety of ways. Elijah is mismatch nightmare for a defense under the lights. He is to big for for defensive back to hang with him but to fast for linebackers to cover him. For how big Elijah is, I am really impressed with how quick and easy he moves with and without the ball in his hands. Elijah, a Minnesota State-Mankato commit is primed for a huge senior season this year. He should be a top running back in the Madison area and I am excited to see the offensive electricity that he provides throughout the season.

The Defending Division One State Champs took on a high-octane, offensive machine. Bay Port vs Middleton had it all. Two top Senior QBs dueling. Playmaking Running Backs. Defensive standouts. This game had it all. Take a look at 8 players who impressed in this epic Week 1 showdown.
