out of Janesville Parker. One of the most impressive parts when I watch his tape is the way he plays with his hands. Gavin has an elite 6’6″ frame with length to match and the junior uses that length to always initiate contact and get his hands on his man first. They are hands that deliver a strong initial punch. His hands also allow him to control where his man or to get them off balance so he can easily overpower them the rest of the play. Looking further into the hand use, Meier does a consistently good job with his hand placement. Despite being as big as he is, Gavin keeps his hands inside and does a great job of resetting his hands when his opponent tries to make a counter move. The big man is equally as technically sound. Big things ahead for him, and a great addition to our Perfect Recruit build.

During the summer it was clear that Gavin had made a big jump in his development, but it wasn’t clear how much of a jump until we started to see the game tape from this fall. In Week 3 Gavin went up against a loaded Verona defense and the film that came out of it shows an OT that a lot of high level college programs need to have on their recruiting boards. The massive, 6’6″ 275 lbs OT is an easy mover, especially in pass protection. He can get good depth in his initial pass set and as soon as his man tries to change direction Gavin is able to easily mirror that move and use his superior length and strength to completely shut down their rush. The junior OT has excellent flexibility in his lower body to allow him to use leverage and maximize the strength he brings to the field. I highly recommend checking out all of Gavin’s tape, starting with the Week 3 tape.

Rankings Movement: #90 to #11
Gavin was our biggest riser in the rankings update, and it is easy to see why after watching him in person a few times this summer. The development he has made since the end of his sophomore year is special. He has continued to grow and fill out his frame, but while doing so we have see him flexibility, mobility, and overall fluidity in his movements also increase. In 2023 Gavin was a kid that simply overpowered his opponent. This summer in camps we are seeing him use more of his overall traits to give himself easy wins and the best chances for success against DLs. Gavin is coming back to the field this fall bigger, stronger, and more agile. He also returns with an offer from Northern Illinois already. Big things are ahead, and his climb up the rankings may just be getting started. A big breakout year is coming.

Gavin is turning himself into one of WI’s next to OL prospects. The incoming junior has an elite frame that has really taken off this offseason. He now stands just shy of 6’5″ and checks in at 270 lbs. Most importantly for a future OT at the next level, Gavin has a 6’9″ wingspan and big, powerful hands. While Gavin does hold an offer from Northern Illinois already I think we are due to see him truly breakout this fall as he puts out fresh tape and gets to show off the work he has put in this offseason. He is becoming more and more agile and flexible in his lower body, giving him even better reactive athleticism in pass protection. His strength on the field stood out too. Gavin easily was able to stand up opponents and shut down any bull rush attempts. He also was able to easily move defenders in the run game drills/battles. Gavin is going to be a riser in the rankings update coming up. Get on this kid early on.
