2025 WV Team Preview: Martinsburg Bulldogs

They'll look for #11 in 2025 with a mix of returning starters and role players ready to take the next step. We'll learn a lot about this version of the Bulldogs in the first two weeks of the season as they'll face New Jersey power Camden and a loaded Huntington team. He's a long and athletic DE/EDGE prospect who does a nice job of rushing the passer. Urias is quick off the line and plays with low bend, making it difficult for offensive tackles to block him 1-on-1. He's also disciplined in run defense, being patient to read option play, and defending his side of the field. He's entering his senior season much bigger and stronger than in the past, and it's going to translate to success this year. Cofield will see time at running back, too, but projects as a middle linebacker at the next level with a great build for the position. He's been a varsity player since his sophomore year at Musselman, and brings a lot of experience to a group that needs some this season. Whipp made strides as a player during his junior campaign, and we should see another step forward as a senior. Size makes him a better defensive prospect than an offensive one, but Kovacs may need to be a starter on both sides as a senior. He got a lot of reps at both last season, so the role won't be new to him. He split time with a senior last season, but should be the Bulldogs' full-time kicker this season. You can feel comfortable putting him out there for a field goal over 40 yards, and he'll be consistent on PATs. He's a natural playmaker with a great feel for the game that will result in highlight-reel plays this year. Todd is effective in both the passing and running game and would be dangerous as a returner, too. He'll be a dual-threat behind center in a similar mold as former Martinsburg QB Murphy Clement. You'll need to account for Dick in the running game every play in RPOs or designated runs. Dick's arm talent shouldn't be overlooked either, as he'll have weapons to spread the ball around to as well. He broke onto the scene as a sophomore last season and opened eyes as a young player. We didn't know what to expect from Ricketts as he was a quarterback in the past, but excelled as an OLB/S hybrid last year. He does a great job playing in space and is excellent in zone coverage at OLB.
