His ability to play as a running back/wide receiver on offense and a strong safety on defense is special. As an offensive player, you can play him anywhere. He is good as a wide receiver, catching passes and making defenders miss. He is also a good running back who can be used in the backfield or on jet sweeps. Whenever he touches the ball, he is a difference maker and makes plays. Then on defense, he is the same way, flying around and making tackles all over the field. He is a good runner who does an excellent job of breaking tackles. He has a perfect balance between being a physical runner and showing good burst. He is especially good at running the ball on designed quarterback run plays. He is also good when the play breaks down, where he can scramble around and make plays with his feet. He shows solid mechanics and footwork in the pocket, but this is an area he needs to continue to grow. Simply, you do not see many players of his size (6'4") and athletic ability. As a wide receiver, he is unbelievable after the catch. His ability to catch the ball and make defenders miss in space is special. Then you add in his ability to go up and out-jump defensive backs, and you've got a special receiver. As an outside linebacker, he is great at making plays all over the field and running sideline-to-sideline. Smith recruitment has blown up in the spring with offers from Toledo, Penn State, Syracuse, and Ohio State. As a defender, he shows a great ability as a safety. He is excellent at coming upfield and making tackles in the open field. Sherman has a chance to be even better this season for Cumberland Valley, and he picked up an offer from Duquesne University already. Filling in for Wolfe at quarterback at the end of the season, Stamy played well in 3 games. He is undersized (5'9"), but his mechanics and footwork are excellent. He also does a good job of reading the defense and throwing the ball in a timely manner. He can score anytime he touches the ball. An example was that he was excellent on kickoff returns by fielding it and returning it for long terms. He is also a good wide receiver who is good after the catch, by making defenders miss in space. His instincts and fundamentals are excellent. He reads his keys well and attacks upfield against opposing offenses. He is a good run stopper as he tackles anything run between the tackles well. He also does a good job of running sideline-to-sideline and chasing plays all over the field. The other part of his game that is excellent is that he is good at pass defense. On special teams, he is good on the kickoff team by running downfield and making tackles in the open field. Those same skills are apparent as a linebacker. He is able to read and react and trigger downhill. He is good as a run stopper by making tackles inside the box at a high level.
