He is already committed to Notre Dame, which is a great opportunity to go to one of the best universities in the country. Merrill is a super-talented lineman who has great size (6’6″), strength, and athleticism. He has a chance to be a good player and has one more season to help Cumberland Valley make a playoff run this season.

Enough has come to light surrounding the national prospect that is Cumberland Valley’s Tyler Merrill Tyler Merrill 6'6" | 325 lbs | OL Cumberland Valley | 2026 State PA . There isn’t much that can be said that hasn’t been said already. There are hardly any offensive linemen stationed in the Northeast who project to Power Four ball better than the junior tackle.

Talking recruiting news surrounding the elite 2026 National Prospect, things have been relatively quiet on socials. Prior to Week Zero action, Merrill endorsed numerous outside media predictions voicing the potential for Notre Dame to secure the top-five prospect. Since, Michigan brought in Merrill for a weekend visit back in September, with Merrill voicing positive moments and conversations post-visit.

Worth mentioning, Merrill’s current measurables have been bumped up to 6’6, 325 pounds. He will garner top overall prospect consideration once, as he does with each passing update.

Couple of noteworthy happenings since we last checked in on the Cumberland Valley tackle prospect. SEC offers came in from Kentucky and Mizzou, bringing Merrill’s total past 25 offers. Michigan State also threw their names into the Merrill hat recently. What’s likely more important are the two visits Merrill took this Spring. On April 6th, Merrill took the trip down to South Bend to further build relationships with the Notre Dame brass. The next day, Merrill visited Ann Arbor to catch up with the UM staff who are likely doing what they can to secure his talents. The two visits mean more in the grand scheme of things, more weight held there than offers added to Merrill’s laundry list of opportunities.

Recruiting Update: The other big-time offensive lineman prospect in the State of Pennsylvania is Tyler Merrill Tyler Merrill 6'6" | 325 lbs | OL Cumberland Valley | 2026 State PA . He and Kevin Brown Kevin Brown 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Harrisburg | 2026 State PA going head to head on the recruiting trail will be fascinating. He recently picked up offers from Michigan State, Missouri, and Georgia. He currently has over 12 Division One offers.

Recruiting Question: It is a bigger question for Merrill and Brown and it is will Penn State land both or either player? Losing both players is a huge loss. Landing one would be acceptable. Landing both players could be program-changing for Penn State.

The highest ranked prospect for Coach Oswalt squad is offensive lineman Tylerfdcdf Merrill Tylerfdcdf Merrill 6'5" | OL PA . Ranked 6th overall in the state for 2026, this young man has offer 10 FBS offers and were not even in August! He is only set to soar up rankings for years to come with big time schools such as Ohio State, Penn State, Syracuse and Pittsburgh already pulling the trigger. For starters, Merrill is already playing both tackle spots for Cumberland Valley, showing off two separate skillsets for college to already fall in love with. This kid is a punishing tackle that makes his presence known in both the run and passing game. Registering more than 5 pancakes in two games, Merrill will absolutely maul kids who can’t match up physically. It’s tough to find comparable size opposite Merrill, especially when you’re 300+ pounds and stand at 6’5 as a freshman. Highly impressed thus far. I’m expecting continued dominance.

And continued dominance is what he did in his freshman campaign, on his way to earning all conference honors. The attention and interest in Merrill will only grow, and his offer sheet will triple by the end of next fall.
