The greater Saginaw area has a ton of great high school football. I've got three teams that I feel strongly are going to show significant improvement this season.

Bay City Glenn

Last Season: 5-5

Considering their 2025 schedule and returning talent, there's a good chance that Bay City Glenn is an above .500 team this season. Last season was a decent year for the Bobcats. Began the season with an ugly loss against Ortonville Brandon, but then won three of their next four before hitting two state championship contenders. All in all, they beat the mediocure teams, and fell short against the true contendors.

This season, I see that gap closing slightly. They still have games scheduled against Frankenmuth and Freeland. Those are obviously two massive tests against contenders. Early in the season, they've got an oppurtunity to get out of the blocks fast. They open the season with South Lyon East, Alma, and Essexville Garber- three extremely winnable games. Then, they got Swan Valley in Week 4, a team fell to 21-49 last season.

I've got John Glenn going 7-2 during the regular season. As their offensive and defensive fronts continue to improve, the ceiling will continue to rise. Here's a few players that'll move the needle for Glenn this season.

WR | [player_tooltip player_id='1395235' first='Bradley' last='Boyk']

Great option in the slot. Flashed open-field ability last season.

Good vision, above-average athlete at WR.

Developing route runner, and developing hands.

Really high upside receiver. Has a shot to breakout this season. Looking for consistency.

WR | [player_tooltip player_id='1685562' first='Lukas' last='Gies']

Wildly underrated receiver. Has made waves this offseason.

Able to stretch the field. Good deep route running and impressive hands.

Average size for the position. Flashes great hands. Reminds a lot of [player_tooltip player_id='1225709' first='Jamison' last='Pelt'].

Should be a game-changer this season. High praise from coaching staff.

Saginaw Heritage

Last season: 8-4

This is one of the most well-rounded Heritage teams that we've seen. Projecting to be strong on both lines, and a few great skill position weapons. Last season, Heritage went 8-4 with two big playoff wins against Dow and Midland. In addition, this team played super competitive ball against Grand Blanc and East Lansing.

There were more ups than downs last season, but still, they're going to want to take that next step up into contender territory.

The schedule is pretty front-loaded. The first five games include Mt. Pleasant, Midland Dow, Grand Blanc, Davison, and Lapeer. Not an easy run! Still, I see a 3-loss regular season as their floor. You can count on this program improving as the season chugs along. Don't be shocked if this team makes a legit run in the playoffs- D2 is pretty wide open this season!

DL/ATH | [player_tooltip player_id='1618140' first='Jeremiah' last='Walker']

Stock skyrocketed this offseason.

Powerful defensive tackle. A few good pass rush moves showcased against great O-Linemen.

Has the stamina to play running back. A bruiser. Rare stuff for an interior defensive lineman.

Committed to D2 National Champion, Ferris State.

WR | [player_tooltip player_id='1558511' first='Daylin' last='Taylor']

Eye-popping athlete.

Was a huge target for GVSU. No surprises there.

Working hard all offseason. Has made the absolute most of the spring and summer.

Just under 1000 offensive yards last season. Should easily get over 1000 AP yards this season.

Very interested to see how Daylin is utilized. Great versatility.

Freeland

Last season: 9-2

Freeland has been knocking on the door for a long, long time. Another amazing regular season, followed by a gut-wrenching loss to Goodrich early in the postseason. The thing is, Freeland is still a contender. They've got the talent, and most importantly, the scheme and depth to execute against just about anyone.

This coming regular season should be incredibly similar to last season. They've got eight games that they should win with relative ease, and one major test against Frankenmuth. It's all about getting over that hurdle. The floor for this team is 9-2, and the ceiling is a victory at Ford Field. Let's see if Freeland can get it done!

OT | [player_tooltip player_id='284017' first='Tristan' last='Comer']

Committed to Michigan State after a sensational offseason.

Full-time offensive tackle now. Hope he's put on some good weight.

Has polished skills a ton this offseason. The greater Saginaw area has a ton of great high school football. I've got three teams that I feel strongly are going to show significant improvement this season.
