Enjoy!

In the month of June, we always give our rankings a fresh update and add more players to each class. We kicked off our ranking update series with the 2028 class. In case you missed it, we released the 2028 Top 50 earlier this week. These prospects just finished up their freshman seasons and there are quite a few that have already made names for themselves. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at the highest ranked newcomers in the latest ranking update! Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2028 prospect breakdowns and more ranking updates each week!

Bixby has another emerging star prospect on the line of scrimmage. Tight end and Defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1689504' first='Connor' last='Arant'] moved over to Bixby from Jenks this offseason and he's already earned the attention of Power 4 coaches. He's already picked up his first offer and this fall could end up being a big one for Arant. We got a chance to watch Arant during the spring and while we were watching, he was primarily working as a defensive end. Arant was going up against a really good offensive line and he looked like he wasn't having any problems. So there was no doubt that Arant was going to debut in a very high spot in our latest ranking update. We're looking forward to seeing more of him this fall. It should also be mentioned that he's a standout on the baseball field.

Edmond North offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1689505' first='Wyatt' last='Knol'] is another example of why we love covering OK high school football. Every class has prospects emerging almost every week. When we unveiled our first 2028 rankings, Knol wasn't on it. We didn't know much about him. That changed very quickly. Knol picked up his first offer and we got a chance to watch his film from freshman season and then we watched him in person during the spring. Knol has some really impressive film out there, including winning snap after snap against elite defensive linemen across the state. Right now, the Edmond North big man has solidified himself as the top guy at the position. It's incredibly early but there's no doubt that he's a 2028 prospect that we need to keep an eye on moving forward.

McAlester wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1689507' first='Rodney' last='Washington'] rounds out the top ten and he's another name that we're excited to see moving forward. Washington is a potential star on the basketball court but the ceiling could end up being higher on the gridiron. Washington saw some playing time for the Buffaloes last season but when we caught them in action during the spring, he was arguably their top weapon in the passing game. He was consistently beating opposing cornerbacks deep and separating with ease. Time after time, he was catching wide open passes after creating five to ten yards of separation. We've seen plenty of prospects come through Oklahoma that have made a name at first on the basketball court and then slowly but surely that ceiling gets higher on the football field.

Right now, it feels like Choctaw's [player_tooltip player_id='1642493' first='Kentrell' last='Gaddis II'] is going to be the ultimate swiss army knife for the Yellowjackets moving forward. Whether he's lining up as a running back or wide receiver on offense or lining up on defense, Gaddis has the potential to change the game. We watched Gaddis in person in the spring and he was an absolute dynamic weapon on the offensive side of the ball. And honestly, he reminded us a lot of Choctaw 2025 standout JuJu Smith with the amount of versatility and overall playmaking in his game. And Gaddis is doing it very early on in his career. We're looking forward to seeing how Choctaw utilizes him this season. Gaddis is going to be a name to watch this fall as the Yellowjackets look to defend their state championship.

Pryor wide receiver and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1537428' first='Gage' last='LeFrere'] debuts in the latest ranking update in the Top 15. Pryor isn't a program that produces that elite level of prospect year after year but they have an absolute gem with LeFrere. We've watched LeFrere in person at a couple times this offseason, at our 7v7 tournament and our showcase camp. In both instances, LeFrere was one of the top players on the football field. Then we also checked out his film and LeFrere was performing at an incredibly high level. He produced in a major way on the defensive side of the ball. Whether he's on offense or defense, LeFrere has the potential of being an absolute star. He has size, real speed and legitimate production. So it feels like he's just scratching the surface on what he'll be moving forward.
