Washington is a freak athlete and we only needed to watch him in pads for about an hour last year to realize that he was different than a lot of prospects in this class. Now, full disclosure, Washington is already considered the best basketball prospect in the state and is quickly becoming one of the top basketball prospects in the region. His recruitment has absolutely exploded on the hardwood. So he may end up going the basketball route for the next level but until that day, we’ll continue to talk up his play on the gridiron.

Washington is a next level freak athlete and all you have to do is watch him play a quarter or two of basketball and you see he’s at a different level than everyone from an athletic standpoint. Washington was productive during his sophomore season but we think he’s just scratching the surface on what he can be on the football field. He’s definitely a more polished basketball prospect right now but we think the ceiling will inevitably be higher for him on the gridiron. In our opinion, Washington will be contending to be the top receiver in this class by the time his senior year rolls around.

He doesn’t have some of the production that the other 2028 wide receivers have but it’s only a matter of time. Washington checks the boxes from a physical standpoint with his size. And this offseason, we watched countless clips of Washington dominating on the basketball floor, jumping through the gym. The athleticism in his game is off the charts good and it’s only a matter of time before he absolutely explodes as a true football prospect. He’s also considered one of the state’s better basketball prospects in his class but we think his ceiling is considerably higher in football as he continues to work on his craft.

We think he is a special prospect that hardly anyone knows about in the football world. Washington was incredibly limited during his freshman season, only having a couple catches for less than 100 yards. But Washington is incredibly dynamic on the basketball floor and the athleticism is off the charts. It can translate to the gridiron and you started to see flashes of it this spring. Washington looks like he’s going to be one of the better basketball prospects in the state’s 2028 class but like so many similar athletes in the past, we think his ceiling will be higher in football.

Washington is a potential star on the basketball court but the ceiling could end up being higher on the gridiron. Washington saw some playing time for the Buffaloes last season but when we caught them in action during the spring, he was arguably their top weapon in the passing game. He was consistently beating opposing cornerbacks deep and separating with ease. Time after time, he was catching wide open passes after creating five to ten yards of separation. We’ve seen plenty of prospects come through Oklahoma that have made a name at first on the basketball court and then slowly but surely that ceiling gets higher on the football field.
