It was a quieter night for Pouncil, but the next level potential is clearly there. He’s a good athlete, with a frame that should fill out well at the next level. One of his few grabs of the night showed off great hand eye coordination when he reached back to pluck a pass that was thrown behind him. Also showed some motor on defense when he raced after a runner and jumped on a fumble. As a dual sport athlete, he’s only starting to scratch the surface of his potential.

We’re always going to be on the side of a basketball athlete that comes out, puts the pads on and shows some physical ability. McAlester has a gem in tight end Davien Pouncil Davien Pouncil 6'4" | 205 lbs | TE McAlester | 2027 State OK that we think will have a big senior season. Pouncil is a standout on the basketball court but this fall, he’s going to give football a shot and if he carries over the momentum that we saw him play with back in the spring, this could be a very fun season for him. Pouncil feels like one of those basketball athletes that might find that his ceiling as an overall athlete might actually be higher in football. He’s big, athletic and he was not afraid to get very physical when it was time to be physical. He has all the makings of being a breakout star for the Buffaloes this season.

2027 wide receiver and tight end hybrid Davien Pouncil Davien Pouncil 6'4" | 205 lbs | TE McAlester | 2027 State OK is one of the additions to this McAlester roster as they plucked him out of the gym and put some pads on him. Pouncil was one of the more impressive Buffaloes that we watched when we caught McAlester in person back in the spring. He’s clearly a very athletic player with his basketball background and when you combine that with his size and reliable hands, he’s going to be a major target for the Buffaloes. And when he gets the ball, he’s looking to inflict as much damage on a would-be tackler as possible. He’s incredibly physical and we think everything is pointing to him being a breakout player for McAlester.
