Spring Stock-Risers: 2027 RB Report

We're underway with our 2027 rankings content following a massive spring update. With 110 new players and several other big movers, we're all in on content for the rising junior class.   Here, we're breaking down the running backs who moved up in the rankings. Featuring two previously ranked and four watchlist-to-ranked players, who moved up in our rankings? Find out in this 2027 RB stock-risers.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2027 RB Stock-Risers</h2>    Holloway took the biggest leap of any player previously on the watchlist in this rankings update, exploding all the way to just outside the top 100. Part of it is a second look at his film, but there is some projection here. He was explosive in limited reps, racking up over 12 yards a carry on just under seven touches a game. If that production continues when he's the featured back in 2025, he'll likely climb higher, as his combination of speed and power is impressive.     After a solid sophomore season that landed him on our radar, Adams has taken the offseason to reshape his body. A compact runner with a strong lower-half, Adams has added good weight and maintained his explosive abilities. That gives him plenty of upside when it comes to contact balance and tackle-breaking abilities.     Even though he has the body of a lighter scat-back, Wright has some serious power and tackle-breaking ability. Even more important in an evolving sport, he has elite receiving upside and is a true weapon out of the backfield rather than just a checkdown and swing pass option. As he puts on more weight, we wouldn't be surprised to see him become an every-down player, given his receiving and blocking abilities.     I moved Johnson into the rankings while taking a second look at the film of watchlist guys and then I had the opportunity to scout him in person at our Prep Redzone NC Combine earlier in May. He impressed me with his pad level and consistency, which leads me to believe he'll have a bigger role after a transfer to Page.     Hobbs is in line for a huge junior season as a runner, though I hesitate to say he'll be a true running back. I expect Hobbs to get the ball in creative ways as a pitch man, receiver, and runner as his athleticism and explosiveness is too much to ignore, even on an offense with plenty of talented players. Hobbs has excellent potential, especially for a team that feels confident in its ability to use him creatively and get him the ball in space.     A top recruit, Brown's combination of power, contact, balance, and speed is a nightmare for defenses, but on a team full of Division I recruits, he didn't have the volume last year to rank among the state leaders in rushing. That's not as important as the physical ability here though and Brown keeps quietly getting better and better. In a class that has experienced a lot of upheaval at the top, Brown has just quietly been plugging away, earning another slight bump in this update.
