Hobbs wasn’t your typical backup running back last season, as he was used far more in the option game and in motion than as a traditional back. That gives him a wide range of potential outcomes in 2026. If he’s used as the primary back after the graduation of his running mate, he could put up monster numbers for the Comets. If he’s limited to just 58 touches like he was at a junior, he’ll still have his fair share of highlights, but he won’t hit some of the traditional yardage benchmarks.

Hobbs isn’t used as a true running back for Clayton, as the Comets use him more as a gadget guy out of the backfield and the slot, but that could change in 2026. The Comets graduate their every-down back, and Hobbs has the talent to step into that role. His speed and burst are excellent, and he’s able to hit holes that only open for a split second. His athletic profile suggests he should see a tick up in production as a senior, as his per carry (9.7 yards) numbers are excellent.

Hobbs is in line for a huge junior season as a runner, though I hesitate to say he’ll be a true running back. I expect Hobbs to get the ball in creative ways as a pitch man, receiver, and runner as his athleticism and explosiveness is too much to ignore, even on an offense with plenty of talented players. Hobbs has excellent potential, especially for a team that feels confident in its ability to use him creatively and get him the ball in space.

Hobbs only notched about nine carries a game, but he was highly successful with those against quality competition. He’s one of the fastest backs in the state, clocking multiple 40-yard times in the 4.4s and can really do damage in space. He’s growing into his body and should display more power and tackle-breaking ability as a junior, but he’s a guy who could find himself on the Group of Five radar soon.

is a dual sport athlete that has shown to be one of the better 2027s in North Carolina in football and basketball. Having seen the Tar Heel state running back live this past December at AYF Nationals, he was a kid we jotted down quickly. He has the ability to be one of the more electrifying athletes on the field at any given time. Coming out of the backfield, Terris makes very sharp cuts with good agility. Maintaining his top-end speed while changing direction, I have been thoroughly impressed with the athletic ability Terris has. Despite giving up some size, Hobbs is also a hard runner who fights through contact and does everything can continue to fall forward and advance the ball. He’s another one that needs to grow and pack on size, but there is potential for big things down the line here.
