Check out updated 2027 Rankings

This article continues the discussion of some of the top Athletes in this class. Some of these guys are given secondary positions, which indicates where I am leaning in what position they will play at the next level. The bottom line for this group is that they all show some level of athleticism on tape that stands out.

As of now, these guys all need some development, and more importantly, they need to develop physically to play at the next level. Based on their Sophomore tape, they all show intriguing athletic and positional traits to warrant some coverage.

Mangone, who plays two-ways for Rush-Henrietta, was very productive this past year. An undersized prospect, he has time to continue getting bigger, stronger, and faster, but I really like the quickness and twitch he shows on tape. Based on athleticism alone, he could play a few different positions, but I will continue to track his development both overall and at the quarterback position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1649122' first='Akai' last='Lewis'] played a strong role on a PSAL-winning Curtis team. I really like his range from the safety position, and the ball skills he shows on both sides of the ball stand out on tape. Lewis had a role as an SAF and Slot WR and shows strong hands all over his tape.

He flashes some good movement skills. He is more of a smooth mover than twitchy and bursty guys, but everything he does, from transitioning out of backpedal to simple cuts running routes, looks really clean.

McTague had an impressive freshman season playing quarterback for Glen Falls, and this year, he moved to receiver, where he had a very strong season.

His tape shows that he has some quickness and twitch to his game. He will be moving back to QB for JR year, and although that will be his primary position, I liked what he showed in the open field this year as a WR.

Additionally, he can play DB/RB and had some really nice reps as a returner. QB is his main spot, but McTague showed on tape this year that he can maybe play somewhere else at the next level.

Bridenbaker plays both at RB and in a sort of DB/LB type role, and he offers a lot on either side of the ball. He wins a lot of reps with his athleticism, he is a willing tackler and shows some violent finishing coming downhill. He flashes some solid change of direction, and while he does not have a ton of reps that showcase open-field speed, he has a long running stride which helps him separate from LBs as a runner. A solid body of work for SOPH tape on both sides of the ball.

Constantino thrived in his first varsity season. The Tottenville WR/RB was part of a loaded skill group, and he made the most of his touches. I saw Tottenville play in their first game of the season, and I like his versatility and how impactful he is as a receiver out of the backfield. He has the ability to make guys miss and shows some stop-start ability that is dangerous in the open field.

Wagstaff is a true gadget guy on offense. He can line up outside, in the slot, or in the backfield and make plays down the field or in the screen/short passing game. Also a defensive back, Wagstaff rarely comes off the field. He is a solid athlete and shows some quickness in the open field. He plays with a good motor and is a willing tackler coming downhill.

Brown was a playmaker for a young Canarsie team this year, and although he spent all his time at QB and he showed some dual-threat ability at the position, he is the type of player who often is one of the top athletes on the field regardless of position. I like his burst and ability to accelerate. Right now, we have QB tape, and I won't discount his potential to play QB at the next level. The skillset he shows on SOPH tape is based on him being a superior athlete on the field on a lot of his best reps.

Mobley Jr plays RB for Pittsford. I like his outlook at the RB position, but I have also seen him at LB in a 7v7 setting, and there is some two-way ability here. Slightly undersized at the LB position, I would still lean towards RB. He shows good burst and some explosive cuts, as well as some wiggle in his lower half. I like the contact balance you see on tape as well. Several reps where Mobley Jr can pick up 3-5 extra yards as he is getting tackles by multiple guys. Mobley Jr can continue to get bigger, faster, and stronger, but this is very promising tape for a sophomore.

I saw Kim live this season when I was checking out a DE on Jamesville-DeWitt and an OT on Cortland. I was impressed with Kim—he was easily the best skill player on the field at the time. Kim showed some twitch in his movements, but he was a player who could make guys miss in the open field. His ball skills were strong and he had a big catch radius for 5'8, and the sophomore tape confirmed what I saw live.

Kicinski is a player I expect to have strong tape and a bigger role next season. In the reps you see on tape, he plays with a good motor and some toughness. He is a two-way player who trends towards being a WR prospect at the next level because he shows strong ball skills and the ability to play bigger than his size.
