The quarterback position is an important position for any team to be successful on the gridiron. Today, I have five quarterbacks who will finally be able to showcase their abilities on a consistent basis in 2025.

Edwards initially received playing time as a freshman but did not have much consistent playtime in 2024 as a quarterback, with [player_tooltip player_id='1147956' first='Braden' last='Schreck'] leading Ironton to a state championship. Edwards is an athlete in the backfield and poses a threat at all levels. He was utilized as a receiver and a ball-carrier, achieving notable success. As a passer, he can launch the ball vertically and has made several significant plays through the air. He has an explosive release and aims to combine it with his elite mobility. The sky is the limit for both Edwards and Ironton in 2025.

Backes has had to wait his turn to become the starting quarterback at Upper Arlington as Kyle Cox has put together excellent seasons, but I believe the position will be his next season. He has played as a wide receiver which showcases his athleticism well. In his role as quarterback, Backes has excelled in the quarterback designed run game and can power through for additional yards. As a passer, he effectively works the short and intermediate game. He can keep plays alive and will look to hit his checkdown if nothing else is open down the field. I think Backes is in for a good season in 2025, and a very well-deserved one at that.

Ternosky is an excellent recruit in both baseball and football, and he has been putting in serious work during the early part of 2025. I saw Ternosky at the Ohio Stock Up Showcase event in early January, and he made a strong impression. With [player_tooltip player_id='1092770' first='Keller' last='Moten'] officially graduating, Ternosky has a tremendous opportunity ahead of him. He possesses an explosive release and can throw the ball rapidly. He navigates the pocket effectively, allowing time for plays to develop before becoming mobile. He is a threat in the designed run game and can really exploit defenses. Walsh Jesuit had a great 2024 season, and I believe Ternosky can elevate them to another level.

Newdigate is a transfer from Springboro, currently led by fellow 2027 prospect Maxim Miller. With an opening left by Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id='753859' first='Chase' last='Herbstreit'], Newdigate will have an opportunity to fill the void. I see many similarities in play style between Herbstreit and Newdigate. Newdigate plays as a powerful runner and brings the shoulder down to gain tough yards. He has a snappy release and can hit targets at any level of the field. He does a solid job at creating space for himself in pressure situations and can keep his head up to scan the field. Being the quarterback of Saint Xavier brings a lot of responsibility, and I am excited to see if Newdigate can take the opening this season.

With senior quarterback and Arkansas State commit [player_tooltip player_id='284940' first='Tyrell' last='Lewis'] out of the picture, the opening is there for Graham to take. Graham got limited playtime in a few varsity games last season and made some impressive throws. He looks comfortable in the pocket and isn't afraid to rip some aggressive balls. The southpaw can put balls in position to be only caught by his receivers and can work all areas of the field. He is mobile and can use his legs to evade rushers, but he does so to pass rather than run. Graham could become one of the better quarterback prospects in the 2028 class with proper development and sufficient playtime.
