Expert Analysis

Alston had a great junior season: 132 carries for 1,104 rushing yards with 188 receiving yards to boot and 16 total touchdowns. The USC commit is a home-run threat every time the ball is in his hands: he has great change-of-direction in space and has excellent top-end juice. The Trojans got a keeper in the 5-foot-9, 205-pound tailback.

committed to USC a month ago and aims to reinvigorate the Trojans program with his fierce rushing ability. Alston runs with a strong base and powerful legs, enabling him to push through tackles and gain momentum effectively. He is patient and can burst through, whether up the middle or by bouncing it outside. When he makes a cut, he does a great job of maintaining his speed down the field. Everything Alston does is precise, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in his senior season.

Shahn had a great Sophomore season in 2023. His outstanding play was a bright spot in the 5-5 season of the Harvey Red Raiders where they averaged 28.8 points per game. He shows great vision as he quickly finds the open hole before exhibiting very good burst as he accelerates to top speed quickly. He runs behind his pads and displays elite contact balance as he breaks tackles from LB and DB with ease. He exhibits excellent play speed in the open field as he outruns all defenders easily and scores on a long touchdown run.

Alston is a player who has been on our radar sense he started as a freshmen. As a freshman we listed him as an ATH, but after 2 seasons I see him projecting to the Running back position at the college level. Alston has the strength and physicality to run between the tackles. He is explosive out of his stance and hits the hole hard. In space he has speed to take it the distance. Shahn is a strong one cut-runner who doesn’t waste movement and gets up field in a hurry. I like his fit best in a zone run scheme at the college level. Shahn has a P4 offer from West Virginia he also has a group of MAC offers I expect his list of P4 offers to grow this next season.
