The last time we updated the rankings in October, Union's [player_tooltip player_id='858876' first='Tayveon' last='Parry'] was a running back that soared up the list and was in the middle of a breakout season. Parry continued to dominate from the running back position and was arguably the most dynamic weapon in the Union offense last fall. As we start to look ahead to the 2025 season, it's hard to imagine many running backs in Class 6A-1 being more of a playmaker than Parry. And this is a class that is loaded at that position but Parry belongs near the top. Parry has really stood out to us in each of the last two offseason's but he finally got his opportunity to shine in the fall and he ran with it. Don't overlook Parry's ability to be a pass catcher out of the backfield. He's a complete weapon on offense.

The last time we saw Elgin running back [player_tooltip player_id='472321' first='Ritson' last='Meyer'] in person, he was helping lead the Owls to their first state championship in school history and he was quite literally, carrying them to the gold ball. In that 4A title game classic, Meyer would finish the game with just over 40 carries on the afternoon. We knew coming into the season that Meyer had the chance to absolutely break out as one of the better running backs in the state and he certainly backed up that preseason hype. Elgin just had one of their better running backs in school history graduate and Meyer made sure that the Owls weren't going to lose any production from that running back position. He was absolutely special from the start of the year until the end and is a true three-sport star with wrestling and baseball.

Out of the eight running backs on this breakdown, Newcastle's [player_tooltip player_id='449184' first='TJ' last='Bradford'] might be the guy that we've known for the longest time. Bradford emerged during his freshman season as a serious playmaker for the Racers and his stock has really only pointed up from there. During his sophomore year, Bradford dealt with nagging injuries and the production suffered because of it but he was still a name that you had to know about on both sides of the ball because he's also been a standout at cornerback. Bradford would then return to full strength during the 2024 season and helped lead the Racers to the Class 5A semifinals and they were one game short of playing for the state championship.

Owasso's [player_tooltip player_id='1549987' first='Jayden' last='Hall'] is the first of two Owasso Rams on this breakdown and coincidentally, they are right next to each other in the rankings. It's no secret, Owasso had one of, if not the best rushing attacks in the state in 2024. They had a three-headed monster at running back and it's easy to just focus on the group as a whole. But with Hall, he has been an absolute problem for defenses for a while now. He led the team in rushing in 2024 and the last time we saw him, he was running up and down the field at UCO, trading punches with the Bixby dynasty in the 6A-1 state championship game. Hall is a legitimate guy to watch out for this offseason. He showed us first-hand in that state title game that he is more than capable of breaking off the big play on a regular basis.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045556' first='Jayson' last='Moll'] is another part of that three-headed monster at the running back position for Owasso. And Moll is right there with Hall because to be honest, there really isn't much that separates one from the other. They are both so incredibly valuable to what the Rams are trying to do on the offensive side of the ball. Moll is absolutely electric with the football in his hands and just like Hall, the last time we watched Moll in person, he was making big plays in that 6A-1 state title game against the Spartans. Moll has that game-breaking speed that very few players have at the high school level. When he gets out into the open field, good luck catching him from behind or finding the right angle to make a play on him. He's a terrific part of what Owasso does offensively.

Choctaw won the state championship for the first time in over six decades and running back [player_tooltip player_id='476091' first='Mayor' last='Morgan'] was a big reason why. Coming into the 2024 season, we thought Morgan was similar to Moll at Owasso where he was just electric with the ball in his hands and very shifty but he's much more than that. We got a chance to see Choctaw in person a handful of times and the thing that really stands out when you watch him in person is his lower body strength. He is incredibly strong and that strength makes him much more than just a speedster in the open field. He has no problem lowering the shoulder and bouncing off a defender because he has that lower body strength to stay up. We were very impressed with Morgan and he could have an even bigger senior season.

Sulphur running back [player_tooltip player_id='1569774' first='Maddax' last='Mobly'] is another player that helped lead his team to the state championship game. Even though the Bulldogs came up short and had to settle for silver, Mobly made quite the statement in that state championship game. They were facing Lincoln Christian and Lincoln had one of the best defenses in the state and one of the best front seven units in the state, regardless of class. Nobody had success in the run game against Lincoln Christian in 2024, except for Mobly in that 3A state title game. Mobly was outstanding and while they came up a bit short, he had a terrific junior season. Mobly coming back in 2025 is a big reason why we think that Sulphur could end up making a return trip to Edmond and competing again for the state title.

Booker T Washington running back [player_tooltip player_id='858873' first='Mykah' last='Washington'] is our final prospect on this breakdown and coincidentally, it was about this time two years ago that Washington first got on our radar. Since then, he's continued to prove that he's one of the shiftier playmakers in Oklahoma and specifically in Class 5A. We got a chance to watch Washington and the Hornets in person just one time in 2024 and it was one of Washington's best performances. He is so incredibly tough to contain and is an absolute nightmare to track down in the open field. He's very underrated as a pass catcher and that makes him the complete weapon at the running back position. He's definitely another name that college coaches need to have on their radar as we get closer to spring ball opening up.
