This is a big year coming up for the Class of 2027. They will enter their first season as upperclassmen and with that for a lot of them will be an increased or first time role on the varsity squad. These opportunities are going to launch a lot of talented kids onto the map and onto recruiting boards across the state and Midwest. In today's article we are going to look at several athletes who are in position to earn a varsity spot or see a massive increase in production because of openings left by graduating seniors. Let's get into it!

Next up at the starting QB position for Arrowhead HS looks like [player_tooltip player_id='1083381' first='Nolan' last='Hanson']. You can ignore the ranking on the left. The rankings are currently being updated and the rapidly rising 2027 signal caller is making a push for much closer to QB1 after a great season showing off his development. It is a great place for the current sophomore to be. Great facilities and coaching staff around him. The offense is balanced and brings back a ton of weapons at RB and WR for him to work with.

All these will come together to bring out the best in Nolan's game, and there is a lot to bring out. The '27 probably could have started in 2024 and been fine if he wasn't backing up an FBS commit at the starting position. Nolan has the goods as a passer. Quick footwork, an arm that can hit every level of the field, and consistent mechanics that boost his accuracy. A big year is on the way for the breakout QB.

This season is going to be a huge opportunity for RB [player_tooltip player_id='1315891' first='Kain' last='Strong'] to breakout on the West De Pere offense. Despite being led by QB1 in the state, WDP still was able to produce a 1,000 yard rusher in 2024. The Eau Claire commit will be off to the WIAC this fall, though so the workload is open for someone to take.

My pick at the moment is '27 [player_tooltip player_id='1315891' first='Kain' last='Strong']. The 5'11" 180 lbs RB is a one cut runner who is at his best when he can attack between the tackles. When the sophomore sees the lane he flashes his burst to fly through and get to the second level. Once he gets by the LBs he can hit that second gear and be off to the races. Strong won't shy away from contact either and will be able to pick up the tough yards. Keep an eye out for this kid.

I'm excited to see what Collin does in 2025. Based on the stats it looks like Grass split time this past season with a senior QB. In that time the 2027 QB still was able to produce 745 yards, and 6 TDs to 1 INT in 9 games. If Collin returns as the lone starter in 2025 we could see him handle another 100+ pass attempts through the first 9 games.

It would be great to see him double his workload and double his chances at creating big plays to the WBW offense. The '27 signal caller was used on a lot of rollouts where he clearly is comfortable delivering accurate passes. That scenario also allowed him to tuck it and run and show off the dual threat he can bring to the field. I'm excited to see the talented QB take over the job in 2025.

Milwaukee Academy of Science had an insanely dominant and productive offense in 2024. They graduate or lost to relocation almost their entire offensive production. That is exciting for me because we are going to see a ton of new names step up and take big jobs. One of those athletes is WR [player_tooltip player_id='1475494' first='Mekhi' last='Malcom']. Mekhi got his feet wet last season going 13/224/3 on the year. There is a lot of room for improvement on those numbers though. Over 110 receptions graduate this summer. A lot of opportunities for a talented 2027 to snag.

Malcom brings speed out wide and the ability to play the ball in the air. He can get on top of his CB and pull away down the sideline and also did well attacking the intermediate levels with his route running. The glimpses were awesome to see. Now it is time for him to takeover.

Kettle Moraine shared carries with several athletes in 2024. This summer we are going to see a lot of them graduate. It will be interesting to see what the plan is for 2025. One of the athletes who saw action that will be back this fall is sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1620389' first='Liam' last='Rego']. The 5'7" 165 lbs back looks like he will have his body ready for Friday nights. At 165 lbs the sophomore has a 315 bench press and a 405 lbs squat. Rego also has spent time at safety, so we may see him crack the lineup at other positions as well. Either way we are going to be keeping an eye out for him.

AJ is new to my radar. I came across him while researching for this article and it was clear that he needed to be included. While the QB is undersized at 5'9" he was able to produce in 9 games while splitting time in half of them. AJ finished with just under 1,000 passing yards and 7 TDs while also rushing for almost 200 yards.

The highlights show things to be excited about. The kid was poised while facing pressure, stepping up and through the pocket as defenders flew by him before delivering a pass downfield. The undersized QB is at his best attacking the intermediate levels showing a combo of accuracy and touch, placing the ball where his man could go make a play. It will be interesting to see what AJ looks like this season as he looks to take over the job full time.
