VISAA Division 1 Championship Preview – St. Michael the Archangel

The top seeded <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/07/przva-team-preview-saint-michael-the-archangel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">St. Michael the Archangel</a> will host a neutral site game versus Benedictine. St. Michael the Archangel is 9-1 on the season and Benedictine 8-3. Versus common opponents on the season, both teams went undefeated. These teams faced off on August 31 earlier this year and St. Michael came out with a <a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/games/8-31-2024/football-24/benedictine-vs-st-michael-the-archangel.htm?c=xcLStcEPj0afH0Jlh-MRHA#tab=videos&amp;schoolid=" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">41-32 victory</a>. He is a solid outside runner to stretch the edge of the defense with a good up field cut creating good burst. Solid inside runner with good vision and burst to the second level. Patient to allow block to develop and takes what is given to him. Solid contact balance to keep his feet through contact and weak tackles. He can operate in both run and pass defense and is one of the better linebackers in the state. He has a strong base that allows him to anchor himself and not get pushed around. Also shows quickness and flexibility to evade blocks and fill his gap. He will also play in a down defensive lineman position in some defense schemes. He shows very good athleticism with fluid hips and can quickly change direction. He can run the route tree with good separation quickness to provide an open target for his QB. He is an elusive runner with the ball and will quickly turn up field after the catch, showing good foot speed. On defense, he plays corner back opposite of Germaine Gillion and is also a shutdown corner.
