It's the month of October and that means it's time for a prospect ranking update! Throughout this month, we'll be updating each class ranking and following up those updates with in-depth breakdowns on a ton of prospects in each class. Last week, we kicked things off with the 2028 Watchlist. This week, we continue our updates with the 2027 class. The ranking now features the Top 75 Sophomores In Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we'll also have a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at five prospects who are not only debuting in this recent update but they are debuting in very high spots.

You can make the argument that there's not another player in the state that fits the term "breakout star" more than quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1525562' first='Greydon' last='Howell'] at Broken Bow. Howell hasn't played football in the last two years but joined the football team this spring and became one of the best players in the state in the first half of the season. Howell is the definition of a dual-threat quarterback as his passing yards and rushing yards are not that far from one another. What will Howell be at the next level? We aren't sure because the truth is that Howell is still very raw. But there's no doubt that wherever he ends up, he's going to be an absolute playmaker and we can't wait to see him in person.

Norman North tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1530058' first='Ben' last='Kolar'] definitely impressed us when we got a chance to see him in person earlier this season. He's a consistent pass-catcher over the middle in this Norman North offense. It was a little over a year ago that Norman North coaches told us about Kolar and how he had some potential to follow in the footsteps of older brothers John and Charlie. The Kolars have definitely been productive in the Norman North program and Ben could be that next guy. Kolar debuts in the 2027 rankings as a borderline top 20 overall prospect and he's the top tight end prospect in this last update. Kolar is definitely a name to know moving forward.

This summer, we wrote about Pawhuska sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1325101' first='Vann' last='Wildcat'] as one of their players to watch and he has certainly lived up to the preseason hype. Wildcat has emerged as one of the top small school linebackers in Oklahoma and he's also been productive on both sides of the ball. Looking back at some of our notes from this offseason, Wildcat was praised by the Pawhuska coaches as being a guy that has a bright future and is just scratching the surface on what he'll be. Wildcat was able to get playing time last season as a freshman and he's taken his game up a level this fall as a sophomore. We can't help but wonder how he'll improve over the next two years.

The only offensive lineman on this breakdown is Fort Gibson's [player_tooltip player_id='1530067' first='Cooper' last='Hackett'] and he's a guy that we think could keep climbing the rankings the more we watch him. We've yet to see Hackett in person and the first time we saw him on film was this summer but it was on the basketball floor. On the hardwood, he's an athletic big man that can move around very well. On the gridiron, he's a work in progress but we think there's definitely a path for him to go from somewhat of an unknown in football to a polished prospect when his high school career comes to an end. The Fort Gibson product is another example of a high-ceiling prospect moving forward.

We finish off this breakdown with North Rock Creek defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1184832' first='Tyson' last='Hawkins'] as he debuts at #34 overall and he's right on the doorstep of being a top five defensive back prospect. When it comes to North Rock Creek, it's easy to look at Tyson's older brother Caleb as he's become an absolute star. But for Tyson, he's creating his own path this season on the defensive side of the ball. The younger Hawkins has become somewhat of a ball hawk. We had to say that as it just fits. But in all seriousness, Hawkins is one of the leaders in Class 3A and in the state for interceptions this season. Being a young DB and producing at that level has our full attention.
