The Grizzly took on a challenge from out of state last Friday and we able to put their stamp over the state of Washington. Rocky Mountain has looked dominant early in the season and it showed on Friday where they beat the visitors from Washington 42-8. Behind solid quarterback play the Grizzly were able to jump out to an early lead and never really looked back. The defense is living up to the preseason talk showing why it is one of the best in the state. The ability to create havoc has always been a staple at Rocky when it comes to defensive play, and it is no different this year with a great pass rush, rangy linebackers and ball hawking secondary.

[player_tooltip player_id='1358005' first='Austin' last='Rovig']

Rovig has had a monster start to his senior season, where he has been absolutely torching defenses through the air. The senior has been the driving force when it comes to offensive production for the Grizzly, showing up in a big way every game. He has shown the ability to really push the ball down the field and then is hyper accurate in the run pass game. Rovig is averaging almost 300 yard a game this season and is on pace to really light up the SIC.

Cade Benedick

Benedick has been a reliable receiver at the beginning of the season, where he has been able to make catches all over the field. A really good route runner that creates separation and space with his skill along with his high football IQ. Strong hands that allow him to grab the football out of the air on 50/50 balls, but he really has a knack for finding space in the defense. A great start to the year and will be a name to keep an eye on this season for sure.

[player_tooltip player_id='1136025' first='Jeff' last='Thompson']

Thompson has been the most explosive player for Rocky this season with his ability to be a game break. His elite speed was on center stage this Friday where he had an 80-yard reception that put Rocky into score position. A player with great open field wiggle and speed that allows him to beat the defenders' angles. His ability to create explosives is what makes Rocky's offense so dangerous, and he will be on the top of scouting reports every week.

[player_tooltip player_id='401590' first='Rowan' last='Rupp']

Rupp has been a master at creating havoc in the backfield since he first walked on to the field for Rocky. He has only been able to improve his skill set as he has grown each year but has a really advanced his hand placement and pass rush tool bag. He is one of the top players in the class of 2026 for a reason and it has shown up early this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1136019' first='Hayden' last='Thompson']

Thompson is a long rangy safety that has the ability to impact the run and pass game. He shows why he is a highly recruited player with his ability to trigger downhill on the run game and make plays at or near the line of scrimmage. His ability to read and react in coverage is impressive, while also being able to matchup with bigger tight ends and smaller slot receivers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1375210' first='Trey' last='Broadbent']

Broadbent has really come on this season finding a more natural fit on the defensive side of the ball. His ability to understand the route combinations along with read the quarterback is what makes him such a dangerous safety. His football IQ shows up on almost every play as he is able to diagnose quickly and then find himself in the right spot. He is a player that should start getting some college interest if he hasn't already.
