Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Tanner checks into our final rankings as the number two player in the 2026 class and has been dominating top tier competition in the state for several years now. He is a nasty road-grader with violent hands, great overall bend and athletic ability and is a very cerebral and technically sound player that should project nicely as a center in college. The BYU commit showed tremendous position versatility along anywhere up front and is another guy that should see early playing time for the Cougars and is a big part of a very talented ’26 class they have brought in so far before the first national signing day.

Tanner remains one of the top uncommitted prospects on the western region, and his commitment is one to watch through the summer. He has recently taken OV’s to Tennessee, BYU and Oregon and is one of the more athletic and high IQ prospects we have seen and should excel as a center in college at the P4 level.

Tanner has quickly emerged as one of the top tackles on the west coast in the 2026 class, and is in a class of his own in the state of Idaho. He already holds national offers as a Junior, and should be a 20+ offer kid by the time it’s all said and done. So far early this Fall, he has picked up offers from Utah and Boston College, and taken visits to Boise State and BYU, with both of those schools having offered him earlier this Spring.

Tanner is one of the most impressive 2026 tackle prospects on the entire western region, and is a natural bender, has terrific feet and movement abilities while excelling both in the run game and pass protection. He is a violent and explosive player that can block at any of the first three levels, shows a strong finish and gets immediate vertical push on the edge when sealing. He is a no brainer to be ranked the top recruit in the state of Idaho, and will be one of the more sought after recruits on the west coast regardless of position. Tanner currently holds offers from Oregon, Boise State, BYU, Boston College, Nevada and Washington State and should see a slew of others come in as he progresses through the next two seasons for Rocky Mountain.
