NY Recruiting Report Pt. XXIII

A trio of Division 1 commitments from Section V headlines the recruiting report this week, with a ton of players also picking up their first DIII offers. FBS and FCS offers have really slowed down as they are in the midst of their training camps, but plenty of Division III schools are currently moving in and starting their camps, hence the flurry of offers that went out late last week. A solid recruiting report and the last one before we start HS training camp here in New York.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Offers</h2>    Belleville, a WR prospect with really solid measurables and team captain for Hackley, picked up his first offer from Trinity College only a week after attending their camp.     Wheeler, a talented two-way lineman who likely will find himself on the defensive line at the next level, picked up an offer from the DII program at Pace University.     Von Hassel, a solid LB prospect from Section III, picked up an offer from St. Lawrence. His first, and it comes right before camp starts in New York.     Smith, a high academic IOL prospect from Xaverian in Brooklyn, received offers from Rose-Hulman and St. Olaf, as well as an offer from Grinnell College, in February.     Skoda, one of the state's top LB prospects, and CHSFL picked up an offer from DII school Bentley.     Dietrich picked up an offer from Tufts to add to a really solid list of opportunities from schools across the northeast.     Catoggio continued a strong summer and received an offer from Lehigh, where he camped earlier this summer. Catoggio comes into the season with multiple D1 offers and one of the more sought-after available 2025 linemen in the CHSFL.     Butler, a talented LB prospect from CBA-Syracuse, picked up his first offer from Hilbert College ahead of his senior season.     Handley who is a SS/Rover-like prospect picked up offers from Williams College and now has a couple of NESCAC offers heading into training camp.     Thompson, one of the top IOL prospects in Section III picked up a trio of offers this week from St. Lawrence, Castleton University, and Hilbert College.     Robinson, one of the top OLB/ATH prospects in upstate New York, received another DII offer from Pace University, the only DII school in the state.     Glenn, one of the top ATHs in Section I, heads into training camp with 10+ DIII offers, the most recent from Amherst College.     Mandaro, who was on last week's recruiting report, picked up another offer from Western New England, and the Longwood WR has a couple of offers headed into the fall season.     Anderson, a long, lean WR prospect out of Plainedge, picked up another offer from Johns Hopkins to go with multiple other DIII and a DII opportunity.     After a visit, Lent picked up an offer from Muhlenberg College. The third offer so far for a top 10 TE in the 2025 class.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Commitments</h2>    Byrd, one of the top QBs in the state regardless of class, commits to Stony Brook after holding 5+ Division I offers. I have seen Byrd throw a couple of times, and Stony Brook is getting some intriguing traits in a quarterback. First, Byrd is probably the most athletic quarterback in the state. He has shown great burst and explosive movements on a consistent level and can impact the game, escaping the pocket and running the ball both designed and scrambled. His arm is what makes him such an intriguing DI prospect; there is some special natural touch to his game, and he flashes the ability to push the ball down the field. Byrd has some untapped arm strength, and a college weight room could really unlock him, making him an even more impressive prospect for Stony Brook.     Tucker is the #4 LB in this class but, unlike some of the other LBs ranked, is more of an EDGE/OLB prospect. He is easily one of the most athletic pass-rushing prospects in the class. The East OLB had a strong junior season, but seeing him live really helps paint the full picture of his athleticism. Tucker picked up a couple of DI offers this spring but made his pledge this week to Saint Francis in PA, and the Red Flash is getting a player who has a really good bend coming off the edge and shows a good upfield burst. Tucker lives around the LOS and comes into this fall as one of the most dangerous defensive prospects in New York.     Battle, who was dominant for an Aquinas team that experienced roster turnover last season, steps into this fall not just as the leader of a very talented but young offense but also as a Division 1 commit, as he pledged to Mercyhurst this week. Battle earned his offer at Mercyhurst camp, and while he may not be the biggest or the fastest RB prospect in NY, he is an incredibly efficient runner with potentially the best vision and feel for the game. Battle is a true 3-down back prospect who can do good work in the screen and short passing game. He brings solid measurables and can push 200lbs in college.     Singleton is a player I have seen live a couple of times and admittedly made a big jump in his body composition in just the past year. Singleton committed to Army this week, and the Black Knights are getting a complete 3-down running back who can effectively impact the game as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. Singleton is very explosive, and there aren't other backs in the state who generate the burst and power out of their cuts like Singleton does. He is a RB/LB prospect who plays a lot of snaps, so his overall toughness will fit in well with an Army program filled with grit.     Ernst, who returns as one of the top defensive backs in Rochester this season, is the third Aquinas 2025 prospect to commit before the season begins. Ernst earned an offer from Gannon after a strong camp performance and pledged to DII Gannon University. Ernst brings good measurables to the CB position at 6'1. Ernst has solid ball skills on tape and does a good job of utilizing his long arms to impact the catch point consistently.     German, who hopped on my radar after the release of the rankings, may not be the biggest OL prospect, but when you put him on the tape, you come away really impressed with the way he plays with leverage, quick/strong hands, and plays with a relentless motor. German picked up an offer and announced his commitment to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Gavin will become a 3-year starter this fall and has put some strong camp film out this summer including a visit to Washington University's camp.
