Since July 1st, we've published well&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/oklahoma/team-previews/">over 100 of the most in-depth team previews</a></strong>&nbsp;to get you ready for the upcoming season. And we have not slowed down in August. The past week has been all about the individuals to watch this season. From our Preseason All State teams to comeback players and freshmen to watch and much more, we have you covered. In this post, it's time to continue our class by class previews. Again, this is all put together to get you ready for the 2024 season. Fairview AT Kingston</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In week one, defending champion Fairview will continue their tough non-district slate with a road game against a Kingston team that is a top five squad in Class 2A-1 coming into this season. In week zero, Fairview will go on the road and face an Alva team that is ranked in the 2A-2 top ten as well. The Yellowjackets have won the last two Class A state titles and 30 consecutive games. The target on them could not be bigger as we head into the 2024 season. They are still the team to beat in this class until someone kicks them off the throne and we'll know a lot about them after the first few weeks, considering the competition they'll face. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>September 20th - Pawhuska AT Woodland</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the final week of non-district play, it'll be the final tune up before games start counting towards playoff seeding and Pawhuska is going to test themselves against a Woodland team that comes into this year as the number one team in our Class A-2 preseason rankings. Looking at this match-up on paper, we could end up seeing some fireworks here as both teams bring back experienced and productive quarterbacks and both have offenses that could light up the scoreboard. Both teams expect to contend for a state title in their respective class this season and for Pawhuska, they're ready to get back to deep playoff runs in November. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>September 27th - Frederick AT Minco</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We're kicking off district play with a top ten match-up as Minco will host Frederick. Both teams come into this season expecting to make plenty of noise and they could even be considered the favorites in their district. For Minco, they are definitely hungry after last year's abrupt playoff exit while Frederick is looking forward to a new opportunity to compete. The Bombers were originally slated to be in Class 2A-2 but now they are in Class A-1 and instantly became one of the top teams in the class. These two are the top two teams from their district and despite this being week four, the district title could be on the line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>October 4th - Pocola AT Rejoice Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another district match-up that's taking place relatively early in the year will be when Rejoice Christian hosts Pocola. It's only week five but it wouldn't surprise us if the district champ gets decided here. Both of these teams are looking to bounce back in a major way after facing adversity and losses in 2023. They are both top five teams in the preseason rankings and they both have some of the best players in Class A-1 on their squads. For Rejoice, they get their star quarterback back into the lineup after he missed almost all of last season. And for Pocola, they have a team full of experience and legit star power. Now they look to put it all together. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>October 17th - Fairview AT Hooker</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We don't need to spend a lot of time hyping this one up. Simply put, it's the game of the year in this class and that's not debatable. It's #1 VS #2 as Fairview travels to Hooker in a rematch of last year's state championship game. It was apparent to us when we watched that title game unfold in December that these two teams would be the top squads coming into 2024. Hooker brings back everyone and they definitely haven't forgotten how last year ended. For Fairview, we're curious if their winning streak will still be in tact by the time week seven rolls around. But more importantly, the winner of this game will take a ton of momentum into the rest of 2024. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2024 SEASON OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's a new era for Class A football as we head into the 2024 football season and beyond. The class has now been split into two divisions and for Class A-1, we see a class that is headlined by the two teams that played for the Class A gold ball a year ago. #1 Fairview and #2 Hooker are going to be the teams to beat this season in this class but they'll have plenty of company near the top with other teams looking to make that run to Edmond in December. We've talked about Fairview's winning streak, we've talked about how Hooker brings back almost everyone. Those two teams are going to be very good once again. But then you have the other teams in the top five, Pawhuska Rejoice Christian and Pocola that all have a mix of experience, talent and hunger to push those top two teams. We think that Class A-1 is going to be a fun class to watch as some of the teams outside of the top five will also be competitive. Teams like Minco and Christian Heritage have had moments over the last decade but this could be the year they finally break through. This class also features a Cashion team that has been somewhat quiet over the last two years but they are not far removed from dominating Class A football. Frederick moves down to Class A-1 from 2A and Crescent has to reload but they will be right in the mix. And then there are teams outside of the top ten rankings that could surprise us this fall. It should be a more competitive class with less blowouts throughout the year but the conversation starts with Fairview and Hooker and whether or not we'll see another meeting in Edmond with the gold ball on the line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
