is going to be going into his third year as QB1 for the Bulldogs this fall. Martens has a 21-7 record as starting quarterback of the Bulldogs and he is a terrific athlete that put up some impressive numbers last season. Martens would finish his junior campaign with nearly 1,400 yards passing and 16 touchdowns with over 1,100 yards rushing. The 1-2 punch of Martens and Palacios was very effective last season and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do this fall. Martens was also a stat sheet stuffer as a sophomore with 21 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns. He’ll be one of the top quarterbacks in A-1 this fall.

emerged last season as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks, not only in Class A, but in the state. As a sophomore, Martens threw for 21 touchdowns and also had 20 touchdowns on the ground. It’s hard to ignore production like that as we came into this season. Martens continues to be one of the top dual-threat signal callers this fall with over 1,000 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards. But with the emergence of Palacios at running back, Martens hasn’t had as much pressure to carry the offense. That has allowed him to become more efficient at quarterback.

Out in western Oklahoma, we have Hooker hosting defending Class A champion Fairview in the district opener that could end up deciding the district championship. There’s a lot of football to be played but these two teams are among the best coming into the season. For Hooker, they are 2-1 with their only loss coming to a team from Texas. Junior quarterback

has picked up right where he left off during his breakout sophomore season. Martens had 21 passing touchdowns and 20 touchdowns on the ground last season. So far this season, Martens has thrown for more than 500 yards and ran for more than 300 yards. He has five passing touchdowns and four rushing scores. This is a great quarterback match-up and we could see a lot of points.
