PRZPA Team Preview, Roman Catholic Part 2 (2026s and 2027s)

<p><strong>Season Outlook:</strong> Roman Catholic went 9-3 last year with three losses to Dematha, St. Joseph's Prep, and Imhotep Charter. Dematha is one of the best teams out of Maryland and St. Joseph's Prep and Imhotep Charter are two of the best teams in Pennsylvania. Both of them won state titles in Pennsylvania. This is part two for Roman Catholic, I am focusing on the 2025 prospects.</p>   <p><strong>Current Head Coach</strong>: Rick Prete</p>   <p><strong>Top returning 2024 prospects:</strong></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='386284' first='Semaj' last='Beals'] is the top quarterback in the 2026 class. He has earned that destination as a prospect. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year: </p>   <p>"<strong>Film Review: </strong>The top quarterback in the 2026 class has all the tools of an elite quarterback. He has good mechanics in the pocket and delivers an excellent football. He is also a good athlete who moves around well. Beals is a talented quarterback and should improve even more in the next few years.</p>   <p><strong>Off-Season Update</strong>: Beals recruitment has picked up over the summer. He has traveled around to different college campuses, competing at their various camps and 7 on 7 tournaments. He has been at Colorado, Duke, Penn State, and Rutgers in the last month. He does a nice job in run support. Several times you see him coming upfield and making open-field tackles. He is a sure tackler who does a nice job of tackling bigger ball carriers. He also does a good job in pass coverage. He drops deep in coverage and also does a solid job of driving on the ball when thrown in his direction to break it up. Gaskin just picked up his 1st offer to Stony Brook. He has excellent coverage skills. He does a great job of keeping his leverage and staying in front of receivers. He uses his hands well to engage and control receivers. Then when the ball is thrown in his direction he shows excellent ball skills by breaking up passes thrown his way. Stead has a ton of potential at cornerback and should only improve going forward. He received an offer from Akron earlier this year and I expect more offers to come his way once he has a strong Junior year. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/eyansteadjr1/status/1754894896270299202 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1090292' first='Khalif' last='McNear'] is a massive human being who played offensive guard for Roman Catholic last year. When he locks onto defenders he drives them off the ball. He shows good strength by overpowering defenders. He also moves well. He does a nice job of blocking in front of screen passes or running downfield to chase linebackers. McNear needs to get better with his technique, but he has the strength and size to be a good player going forward. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/khalifmcnear_/status/1730356742507118771 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">You don't get to be the 18th prospect and the number 1 wide receiver in the state of Pennsylvania unless you are a legit wide receiver and that is what [player_tooltip player_id='386283' first='Ash' last='Roberts'] is. He has some of the most fun film I have seen in a long time. He can score anytime he touches the ball. He is good on deep balls where he beats defenders off the ball. He is good after the catch by catching a short pass and making defenders miss for a big play. He even can go down and catch balls thrown short. Roberts got an offer from Alabama last year, not sure how legit that is now with a new coaching staff, but regardless he should get on College Football coach's radar soon. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ash1roberts/status/1659679016838676480 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1352809' first='Antwan' last='Smith-Ray'] has limited film but showed he has a lot of potential at defensive line. He has a good size and strength and is hard to move off his spot. When he engages with offensive linemen he does a good job of using his hands to control them and rip through. Smith-Ray should have a chance at being a bigger contributor this season for Roman Catholic. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='388164' first='Louie' last='Amiano'] has limited film and he played at St. Joseph's Prep last year. He has good instincts at the linebacker position. He does a great job of reading his keys and then attacking downhill. He has natural ability and feel for a young linebacker. He also showed that he is a good tackler, especially in the open field. His film is a mixture of Varsity and Junior Varsity, but he showed legit skills at the safety position. He does a good job in coverage by dropping in coverage and getting his hands on the ball thrown in his direction. He also is a good tackler, especially in the open field. They have talent at all positions on the field. Roman Catholic issue is trying to get over the hump and beat teams like Saint Joseph's Prep and Imhotep Charter. They should be in a good position this season to possibly beat either team. </p>
