My Key Points with the North Dakota 2027 Rankings Update

The Trenches Continue to Dominate

To those that are new to us at Prep Redzone Dakotas, we always have put a high emphasis in the trenches when it comes down to ranking prospects as year after year we have been around in the Dakotas, that continues to be the case. After several conversations with college coaches over my years with PRZ, they continue to tell me that is the Dakotas "bread and butter" as the size, frame, upside, and more as certainly gotten not only the Midwest's attention, but national attention recently.

80% of our prospects inside our top five, comes from the trenches on both sides of the ball and we have already seen the first P4 offer come out to our #1 overall prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1027991' first='Luke' last='Starcevic'] from Iowa State which is the earliest we have ever seen in North Dakota. Who could be next? I certainly grade out the next three prospects in our rankings in [player_tooltip player_id='1319906' first='Ben' last='Hynek'], Matheison Dubort, and [player_tooltip player_id='1113077' first='Ian' last='Schweigert'] as sure fire Division 1 grades, and I would not be surprised by the end of the summer if at least one more gets a P4 offers. For years I have been impressed with the trenches at Bismarck Century, and if I were to add one more OL prospect to those D1 grades I would take a strong look at 6'5 270 pounder [player_tooltip player_id='1292610' first='Peyton' last='Seil'] as well from the Patriots.

A Bigger Watchlist than Usual for a New Class

In both of the Dakotas, this is by far the biggest watchlists we have ever put out. When I define our watchlists in these first classes, these are prospects that I have a "wait and see" grade attached to them. Because of our time we have spent at camps, games, etc. in the Dakotas we recognize plenty of last names of prospects that are floating on Division I to Division III rosters throughout the Midwest. Their play will obviously speak for themselves over the coming years, but the access we have gotten to measurables, testing numbers, etc. from some of the top prospects in the Dakotas from college coaches and programs has given us an added metric to create bigger watchlists, rankings, etc. with incoming classes to come.

Stockrisers I Could See by the Next 2027 ND Update

If I were to select some names right now who jump out at me right away for next update, I am going with this list of names.

[player_tooltip player_id='1027992' first='Brooks' last='Bakko'], DB, Kindred Twitter

They don't make too many defensive backs at 6'3 170 pounds in the Dakotas and especially not ones that were All-Region and Second Team All-State as just a freshmen coming out of a powerhouse program like the Kindred Vikings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285223' first='Anthony' last='Alexander'], ATH, Minot Twitter

Live evals always do the justice for me and they always will in the case of 5'11 190 pound athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1285223' first='Anthony' last='Alexander'] of Minot. The eye test alone made this young seem way bigger and you could tell by his skillsets and great attention to detail that he is going to be the next crop of talent for the 11AAA champs from Minot High.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292609' first='Marshall' last='Arndt'], WR, Bismarck Century Twitter

Our first selection for WR1 in the 2027 ND class, Marshall had an impressive showing at the NDSU prospect camp last weekend and after scouting his brother Peyton Arndt for years and seeing his athletic tools, Marshall shows early in this class with already good size at wide receiver and similar athleticism to what his older brother had for the Patriots a couple years back.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292702' first='Brody' last='Kegley'], QB, Central Cass Twitter

Quarterbacks are a tough read this early of a new class, but [player_tooltip player_id='1292702' first='Brody' last='Kegley'] came out as my QB1. He still has plenty of size to grow, but the arm strength and precision this youngster showed off on tape while consistency on intermediate routes, should rise his stock by next update in my eyes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1320092' first='Lucas' last='Brown'], LB, Beach

I can't even find Lucas on Twitter yet, but if someone can find him let me know as this kid is the defintion of a diamond of the rough linebacker. He plays more of a edge rusher in his high school system, but the range and sound physical tackling ability Lucas brings to the table points to me he will be a linebacker at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1300039' first='Eli' last='Soelberg-Dohn'], K, South Border

Lone behold we have the earliest kicker we have ever found that has ample tape available in North Dakota, hailing from South Border. At 6'3 180 pounds, I was very impressed with this kid's length for his age and he is only going to grow a ton between now and his senior year. Eli is likely one of the first prospects I have scouted in depth out of South Border as well.
