2027 VA Rankings Review 11-20

<p class="text-gray-700">A late addition and one of our biggest stock risers is Poquoson's [player_tooltip player_id='1251405' first='Carter' last='Jones'], the young man is a machine. 6'6 and 280 lbs. Jones can be dominant in the trenches and will most likely start obtaining division 1 offers by the end of his sophomore campaign.</p>   <p>I think what stands out the most for me is he doesn't have much (if any) body fat and you do not see that often from linemen his age. Typically this is where a kid his age begins to build more muscle and sheds the extra pounds, looks like he has already done that.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/carterjonesfb/status/1805307471449223297 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Another young wideout who plays much older than he is, Albermarle's [player_tooltip player_id='1311470' first='Jaerron' last='Johnson']. The young man is a blazer that really knows to separate after the catch. A good natural stride in his routes Johnson is stout/strong receiver for the Patriots the next few seasons. </p>   <p>He is trending in a division 1 direction the way he separates and creates after the catch he looks like a veteran out on the field. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Huncho_ron3/status/1672065749324529664 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Reviewing the 2027 rankings every day since Vic posted them last week I was trying to determine which position group was the deepest? When you have three defensive backs in the overall top 13 I think this position group has a very strong case.</p>   <p>Salem's [player_tooltip player_id='1311471' first='Jack' last='Strother'] may be the best tackling corner out of this whole class. I did not see any missed tackles on tape and he hits his opponents with fear. Really good footwork and he trusts his speed that he can play any type of coverage. Strother is 6'1 and 170 lbs. he is another one you will see play on Saturdays. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">My colleague Cole Laing has brought me on to Liberty Christian Academy and I am glad he did, each class has stars! Offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1180525' first='Robert' last='Payne'] looks like the next one who will be playing FBS football like his teammates and fellow upperclassmen. </p>   <p>Cole practically lives on LCA's campus so I shared his thoughts below:</p>   <p><em>Liberty Christian has some good prospects coming out of Lynchburg, Virginia. Robert already has solid height and very good size as a freshman and should find himself in competition to take over some of the open spots in LCA's varsity team. He plays Offensive Line and Nose Guard. He has good leg drive and explosion in Gap blocking and will push defenders out of the gap. He also has good explosion and point strength off the snap as a Nose Guard. Able to use his size to take up a gap and space with good block shed to cover his gap. Robert is one to keep your eye on the next few years as he continues to develop.</em></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Gar-Field's [player_tooltip player_id='734908' first='Erik' last='Nelson'] has a chance to be one of the best linebackers in the state this fall. Been on this kid for a minute here is what I wrote last week:</p>   <p><em>As a freshman in a tough Cardinal District, Nelson stepped in almost immediately racking in 64 tackles. He has size and very good speed, I like the way he covers backs you do not see that often for his age group. With the departure of standout safety </em><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1297880' first='Tyson' last='Woods']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/tyson-woods-2/"><strong></strong><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a></em><em> , it will be interesting to see how he takes on more of a leadership role this fall. The Red Wolves despite their losses should be a playoff contender again, with this young man healthy and eager it is certainly a good start.</em></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I can see why he is listed as an athlete as [player_tooltip player_id='1196951' first='Zion' last='Boisseau'] does everything for Dinwiddie. He can play safety, quarterback, receiver or running back and performs at a high level regardless.</p>   <p>Looking at his tape I can see him playing corner or safety in college, but his work will dictate that. If you haven't done so already watch he catches the ball out of the backfield so effortlessly. </p>   <p>Glad to see he is getting the recognition he deserves with an offer from UNC Charlotte. Episcopal having two prospects in the top 15 is something else, like his teammate ([player_tooltip player_id='1311483' first='Levi' last='Babin']) Coates-Cameron plays the game much older than he is. </p>   <p>It appears he is on several major colleges radars, I would expect offers to fly by the end of his sophomore year.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Northside_WR2/status/1797650178616561946 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Our number 1 linebacker and 14th overall (yes I know this is out of place) is Trinity Episcopal [player_tooltip player_id='1311473' first='Trey' last='Cherry']. It would not surprise me if he plays safety in college really like the way he covers skill guys in space. Do not get me wrong he is a darn good linebacker, but it is rare to see kids cover so well for his age at his position. </p>
