The influx of new talent added to the Class of 2027 Rankings saw the total athletes ranked go from 58 to 109 total athletes. Among the 51 new ranked athletes are very impressive athletes. These new athletes have taken over the #1 spot, reshaped the Top 10, and has started a great base of depth overall in this Class. To shine the spotlight on these new athletes we are going to breakdown the freshman tape and any potential camp notes that I have from the summer circuit. These are going to be names to know for years to come. Enjoy!

Cole put himself on the map and at the top of everyone's boards with his dominant camp performances. The incoming sophomore left NDSU with an offer from the Bison, earned a Central Michigan offer at another camp, and left the Wisconsin Badgers camp with an offer from the home state Badgers.

Watching Cole in person was an awesome experience. He has a rare array of traits from his 6'6" 275 lbs frame with dominant length to natural power, and advance body control. Cole plays like an experienced veteran, not a kid entering his second season of varsity football. Along with the massive frame and power, Cole does a great job with the finer points of the position. He is a natural knee bender who can play with leverage and also brings range to the OL. Cole is a special talent that quickly earned himself the #1 spot in this Class.

Another new athlete who quickly jumped to the top of our boards is the OL/DL out of Sussex Hamilton. Reece is developing a frame that will entice a lot of coaches at the next level. A frame that is able to get out in space, cover ground and land key blocks downfield. The big man possesses a great base of power that allowed him to easily overpower his opponents. On DL Reece has multiple highlights showing strong instincts for the position. The best part is the incoming sophomore has so much more development and fine tuning he can do to his game. We could see him make another big jump on the field.

The Germantown OL is going to be an impressive one to watch over the next three seasons between [player_tooltip player_id='1335688' first='Cole' last='Reiter'] and OL6 [player_tooltip player_id='1228379' first='Carter' last='Gordon']. Gordon is a guard with a budding frame that has been able to make a varsity impact since he was a freshman. The massive prospect is able to create a big surge in the run game. His blend of quickness and agility in short areas, heavy hands, and leg drive allow him to overmatch IDL. Carter does a consistently good job of getting hands in an effective position on his opponents too. Big things are ahead for the Germantown OL.

Larenzz debuts as our WR1 in the Class of 2027! He impressed with his freshman tape. He impressed in person at the Prep Redzone WI showcase. Pratt has turned heads early and often, and his game is only going to get better as he learns the position and develops his athletic tools. Larenzz's football IQ is well on its way towards being elite. He attacks soft spots against zone coverage. He has a good sense of where defenders are while stretching the field. Larenzz has strong instincts and vision after the catch. He will set up blocks and find seams to attack. The incoming sophomore also has a strong base of balance and body control. Traits that allow him to be an effective route runner. Look for WR1 to have a breakout season in 2024.

Another Mallinger to know on the Hamilton OL is the 6'5" 260 lbs incoming sophomore. In 2023 we saw Hunter get experience at guard and tackle, showing some position versatility. The big man looked most at home at guard where his current strengths can shine. Hunter is a solid athlete that can pull and lead out in space or across the formation. He is light on his feet is short areas, quickly positioning himself between the defender and the ball/running lane. The incoming sophomore did a solid job of using his hands to make first contact. It will be interesting to see how his strength looks this fall. If that takes a step forward we will see him game take a big leap forward.

Another top prospect with a strong debut is [player_tooltip player_id='1247083' first='Xander' last='Collier']. The WR was already looking like a reliable mismatch as a freshman in 2023. We see him track the ball well, time jumps to high point the ball effectively, and demonstrated strong hands to make the catch while taking a hit. Xander has shown he can stretch the field with solid speed and smooth route running on deeper routes. The sophomore has shown to be a willing and effective blocker downfield too. Xander is turning into one of the most reliable targets among underclassmen in WI. Get him on your radars early.

A QB that is in position for a breakout year is Muskego's [player_tooltip player_id='1300195' first='Joey' last='Shaw']. Muskego graduated their 2023 starter, so the door is open for the 2027 to take over the helm for the coming years. While the 6' 175 lbs frame isn't prototypical, it doesn't hamper Joey. Joey is an athletic dual threat QB who is very effective at not just running, but also running to throw. Using his legs to buy time for his weapons to get open. The '27 is very impressive when throwing on the run. The accuracy is there and he is still able to drive the ball on a rope. To go along with the passing requirements, Muskego's offense requires their QBs to be effective ball handlers and quick decision makers. If he can do that well, then we are in store for some impressive performances from the 2027 QB.

Debutting as RB1 is the impressive runner out of Watford. Jax has an impressive frame already. Standing 6'2" 205 lbs, Jax has the frame to handle a big workload, and the physicality to create yards after contact. Jax shows decisiveness as a runner, attacking lanes when he sees them. He doesn't dance around. Instead he is always trying to gain yards while the ball is in his hands. Jax is a back that will be able to wear down a defense, and get stronger as the game goes on. I'm looking forward to seeing an increased varsity role for him this fall.
