2027 Rankings Debut: 31-40 Ranked Prospects

The 2027 rankings have made their long-awaited debut with an initial list of the Top 60 rising sophomores in West Virginia. While these rankings will greatly change over the next three years as more athletes emerge and more information and film becomes available, these are the 2027 prospects who have proven to be some of the best at this time. Here are the 31-40 ranked prospects in the 2027 class in our eyes at this early stage.    The 2027 quarterback class is shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent memory if they continue to develop and that is true of Wheeling Park's [player_tooltip player_id='658279' first='Jay' last='Bordas'] as well. He'll be stepping into the varsity starting role sooner than everyone expected with the incumbent starter transferring out of state which thrusts Bordas into the QB1 spot for the Patriots in his sophomore year. He commanded the Patriots' JV team as a freshman where he showed great early signs of being a talented passer and now we'll get to see how he does at the varsity level against a tough schedule. Bordas has looked good throughout the 7on7 circuit this summer and has momentum heading into his sophomore season. He'll debut as the #3 QB in the class for now as we await varsity film that could propel him higher in time.   Don't be surprised if he's the leading passer in the state out of the 2027 quarterback group this season as we anticipate a breakout season for the young QB.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/bordas_jay/status/1804700175543259145 </div></figure>     There aren't many prospects in the 2027 class with a higher ceiling than Princeton WR [player_tooltip player_id='1154940' first='Isaias' last='Selen'] who has definite D1 potential if he wants to be. Selen already has elite size for a young receiver and could become a TE prospect in the future depending on how his body develops over the next three years. We've only seen flashes of game film from him but the potential and upside with Selen is clearly immense. You simply can't teach 6'3 215 and athletic and Selen has all of the athletic tools to eventually develop into a big-time prospect in this class.   If Selen dedicates himself the next few seasons to maximizing his potential, he could one day be a Top 10 prospect in this class if he puts in the time to get there.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ijselen08/status/1712787764607905828 </div></figure>     2027 Huntington ATH [player_tooltip player_id='920512' first='Andreas' last='Reese'] has a lot of upside at a few different positions and could end up being ranked as a running back, receiver, or defensive back by the time he's a senior. For now, Reese will debut as the #5 ATH in the class as we wait for him to settle into one position. We got to see Reese in person at our Combine in May, and he's a very athletically gifted young athlete who tested well for the weather conditions. Most of his available game film right now is at running back, but Reese looked good as a WR/DB at our camp and could develop into a high-level slot receiver and return man in the future. Size is the one aspect that keeps him a bit lower in the rankings at this point as he's a later bloomer in that regard compared to some other 2027 prospects on the list, but he has the athleticism to develop into a top prospect in this class if he can keep getting bigger.   He may have to wait at least one more season before significantly contributing to the Highlanders' varsity team given their deep skill group, but Reese is worth keeping your eyes on over the next three years to watch how he develops.      The early leader in the 2027 specialist group is Independence K Micah Cutherbert who was the starting varsity kicker as a freshman last season. He'll have some very tough competition to maintain that #1 spot over the next three years, but Cuthbert has the tools and potential to finish as a top specialist in this class by the time he's a senior. Cuthbert has fluid early mechanics and will continue to maximize his potential the quicker he gets operationally. He showed great accuracy on angled sideline kickoffs last season while often pinning returners without much of a chance for a return. His leg should get stronger as he gets older, bigger, and stronger over the years to raise his ceiling even further.   Cuthbert is a 2027 kicker that you need to monitor for the next few years and should be a scholarship-level specialist by his senior year.      The Westside Renegades have a very promising young lineman coming up the ranks in [player_tooltip player_id='862722' first='Jace' last='Repass'] who was a varsity player as a freshman. Repass is a very strong young athlete with quality 6'2 265 size heading into his sophomore season. He has OL and DL potential and could one day flip to the defensive side of the ball in our rankings depending on future game film. Speaking of film, Repass doesn't have much of it to evaluate right now, but we're betting on him to showcase more of what he can do this season and beyond and prove why we're so high on him at this early stage. His coaches are very high on him and have been since before his freshman year began with clear potential to end up being one of the better big men in the 2027 class.   We'll learn more about Repass as he gets more film posted, but we're confident he'll make his name known sooner rather than later.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Jace_Repass63/status/1783965533416607924 </div></figure>     [player_tooltip player_id='1154922' first='Jake' last='Endicott'] is an impressive young small school player who flashed serious potential as a freshman varsity starter for the Man Hillbillies last season. Endicott already has great size for a young DE prospect at 6'2 230 and is built well for his age. He first caught our attention in Man's playoff game against Cameron and assumed he was a senior that slipped past our radar at the time. It was a joy to find out he was just a freshman at the time and after watching his film afterward, Endicott has the potential and upside to finish as a highly-ranked DL prospect in the 2027 class by the time he's a senior. He'll need to steadily progress over the years to get to that point, but we're confident in ranking him as a Top 5 defensive lineman at this very early stage.   Keep an eye on Endicott through the years as he continues to develop and further realizes his potential.      2027 Bridgeport K [player_tooltip player_id='1155329' first='Gavin' last='Williams'] has a very high ceiling for the position and will be fighting for that #1 spot until his senior year. You could've made the argument for him as the top-ranked kicker at this point with several exciting specialists already making themselves known at this early stage. We recently touched on Williams in our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/06/2024-team-preview-bridgeport-indians/">2024 Bridgeport Team Preview</a> as he'll likely be the full-time varsity kicker this season and beyond. Williams is a very good young athlete overall which makes his future as a specialist all the more exciting from the athletic base that he has. He's already shown he has some serious range on field goals and leg strength that's not typical of most young specialists.   Williams could develop into a highly regarded specialist prospect by his senior year and should have some college options if he continues to progress each year.      Speaking of 2027 specialists, Wheeling Central's [player_tooltip player_id='1168050' first='Clayton' last='Petry'] is another high-ceiling kicker prospect who will be in contention for the #1 spot once he shows it at the varsity level. Petry will be taking over for highly-ranked 2024 kicker Eli Tucker this season for the Maroon Knights and has shown great signs from watching his practice film on social media. He clearly has a big-time leg for his age with 50+ range on air and smooth mechanics operationally that give him a great base to build on. The ball jumps off his foot, and Petry does a nice job driving the ball on kickoffs quickly and fluidly.   We'll need to see it translate to a live game setting this season and beyond before fairly judging him against fellow 2027 specialists, but Petry has obvious potential to one day earn the #1 spot if he's able to produce on the field.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ClaytonPetry27/status/1801412270280392893 </div></figure>     The Philip Barbour Colts have another young and promising offensive lineman coming up through the ranks in 2027 OL [player_tooltip player_id='862719' first='Ayden' last='Bremigan'] at a position where they've developed some high-level big men recently. We got to see Bremigan in person at a camp during the winter where he impressed us as a young lineman with obvious future potential to develop into a top OL in this class. He's only starting to scratch the surface of his full potential and should make strides in his game over the next three years as he gets bigger and stronger and develops his body. Bremigan saw varsity action as a freshman on a very talented Colts' offensive line and could be a sophomore starter for them this season. He has quality footwork and athleticism for his size and age which give him something to build on moving forward.   We'll be looking for Bremigan to take a step forward this season as a sophomore and will be watching for steady improvement to warrant his Top 10 OL ranking this early on.      Parkersburg 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='920510' first='Drey' last='Grinter'] had an impressive JV highlight tape from his freshman year and caught our attention as another high-ceiling big man in this class. Grinter looks primed to earn a varsity starting spot as a sophomore as the Big Reds lost a lot of talent from their 2023 team to graduation. His first clip on his freshman film shows you what kind of player Grinter is as a highly physical athlete who plays with an edge. We loved seeing the nastiness he played with as a young lineman and did a great job finishing his blocks until the whistle. Grinter has apparent early physical strength and strong hands that pushed defenders around easily at the JV level.   We'll need to see it translate to the varsity level too, but Grinter has clearly shown the potential at the younger level to develop into another talented lineman in the 2027 class with a high ceiling.
