2026 Mountain Quarterbacks to Watch

We've been evaluating a bunch of quarterbacks in the 2026 class by area over the past few days and we've reached an area of the state that is often overlooked. There's plenty of great football in the western part of the state from Asheville to the Tennessee border. Here we break down some of the best 2026 quarterbacks in that region.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2026 Mountain Area Quarterbacks to Watch</h2>    Young hasn't yet displayed a large variety of throws on film, but he throws one of the prettiest deep balls in the class. That along would be enough to rank him, but his poise in the pocket also stands out. Young is a guy we're interested to see develop over the next two years.     Slydell is a really intriguing quarterback prospect out of Asheville. His footwork occasionally gets out of whack causing him to lean a bit on some throws. And yet he's still able to deliver with accuracy. He's money on the run and has a rocket for an arm. Some mechanical tweaks and consistency would turn him into one of the top signal callers in the state. The physical tools and the flashes are elite.     Oates is a 2-way player who is at his best as a quarterback when he's moving to either his left or his right. When the pocket is moved, he's accurate on the run, able to deliver with velocity both over the middle and outside the numbers. As a pure quarterback, he likely needs a bit more size and more reps at the position, but his athleticism and arm talent warrant a strong look from smaller colleges.     Farmer has elite size for the position and nknows how to use it as defenders really struggle to bring him down when they get hands on him. He's not much of a runner, but he isn't afraid to break away from a shrinking pocket and get outside the tackles before delivering downfield. He only attempted 18 passes a game as a sophomore, but displayed excellent leadership in running Shelby's offense. Experience will be key here as he has all the physical tools to be a star.     Flynn is a guy who just recently popped up on Prep Redzone's radar. He displays excellent poise in the pocket and almost always keeps his eyes downfield. As a sophomore, he threw for over 2000 yards, making him one of the most productive sophomores in the state. He has decent arm strength and accuracy, especially given his ability to move within the pocket. The decision-making will need to improve as sometimes he has a tendency to force the ball downfield rather than taking the checkdown. As that skill improves, he's a top junior to watch.
