We just dropped our initial 2029 rankings, and since this is a new class, only a few of these players have scouting reports. I'm slowly changing that.

I've already gone behind the scenes of the creation of this class, with stats, big-picture takeaways, and some class superlatives. This series is different. We're going straight through, from No. 45 to No. 1, to break down every ranked player in the class of 2029. Let's meet the new guys. We're into the top 15, now. Let's meet some freshmen stars.

White led all freshmen in the state this season with over 800 receiving yards. He's a tall, long receiver with the ability to high-point the football. There are some questions about his competition level, but he's 6'4.5" and can fly. I'd love to see what he can do in a camp setting against some bigger, faster players. Right now, he's a difficult evaluation, but a guy we love.

Nkembeng has excellent size and gets downhill in a hurry, making him an excellent blitzer off the edge. I'm not sure whether I like him more as an outside linebacker or a middle-of-the-field guy, but he's got some positional versatility that makes me think he could play both at a high level. His flashes are the best in the linebacker class, as he has a few instant tackles for loss on tape that are impressive.

A two-way player, Byers' biggest impact was as a box safety, and that's probably where he projects in the future. An athletic player, Byers also runs track and already has great size. His best play this season came as a run defender, but he has the footwork and movement skills to be a high-level man coverage defender.

A dynamic running back in middle school, the two-way player perhaps surprisingly made a much bigger impact on defense as a freshman. He forced three turnovers and thrived in coverage, even against bigger players. I still expect him to have his biggest impact as a running back, but we're leaving him as a defensive back for now. His energy and quickness will work on either side of the ball.

Few freshman quarterbacks had a year nearly as good as Douglas-Brown's for Corvian. He threw for 14 touchdowns, ran for four more, and threw just four interceptions. Corvian is typically a run-heavy team, but the Cardinals are trusting their freshman signal-caller, throwing more than they did even last season with an upperclassman. He's comfortable throwing on the run both to the left and right, and he uses his athleticism to create space for himself to get throws off with space.
