Oates goes to the same high school attended by multiple high-level pro athletes and he still may go down as the best athlete in the history of the school. He’s a four-sport star whose future isn’t likely at quarterback (it’s at linebacker) but he’s still a force behind center. He’s thrown for 73 touchdowns and over 6,000 yards, adding another 1,000 yards and 12 scores on the ground. I’m excited to watch him close out his high school career this fall.

Izeiah has been leading his team all year and nothing has changed in the playoffs. Oates scored 6 times (4 rushing 2 passing). The Jr. went 12-24 207 yards passing and had 120 yards rushing on only 14 carries.

Oates is a 2-way player who is at his best as a quarterback when he’s moving to either his left or his right. When the pocket is moved, he’s accurate on the run, able to deliver with velocity both over the middle and outside the numbers. As a pure quarterback, he likely needs a bit more size and more reps at the position, but his athleticism and arm talent warrant a strong look from smaller colleges.
