You see a great dip move early on tape, the bigger tackle had no shot getting into Smith's chest plate thanks to his flexibility and balance off the snap. Witnessed using leverage and lower body drive to disengage from a much bigger tackle again, manhandling a kid who outweighs him by 40-50+ pounds. Mixture of power and twitch to disengage from pulling guards or TEs, attacks his matchup head-on so that he can shock, shed, and seek the football. Butler is still a bit stiff, still a bit raw, yet his exemplary reps on tape show why many are buzzing around this behemoth freshman. Overtly powerful, although his footwork and hand placement can be a bit iffy, Butler can currently rely on pure strength to win reps. Seen working in shotgun sets, ace-formations. Seen working zone-reads with his back in the backfield. I like that the coaches want to take advantage of his athleticism a bit. His third rep shows some poise, no panicking, no eye-darting. Looking through possible QB options on Hudl at PR, I'd imagine he's had some kind of stretch working with the ones. I can speak of the kid's toughness, particularly when running between the tackles. Word might be lacking in height, yet he isn't lacking in weight.
