The Prep Redzone 7v7 circuit made it’s way through Tennessee this weekend as the second annual Music City Mayhem tourney took place in Murfreesboro. We had a great weekend of football and saw so many players at all levels making plays both days. Congratulations to our champions of the tournament! 502 7v7 out of Kentucky had a perfect weekend, capped off with the 18U championship. Slaughter House Elite is taking the 15U and 14U championships back to South Carolina. Legacy U won a defensive battle to take the 12U championship back to Ohio and NPA Green got the day started by winning the 10U championship.
We will have a ton of content over the next few days breaking down the action from the tournament. For now, we’re putting that spotlight on the 18U champions with a report on 502 7v7.
After coming to the Music City Mayhem tourney last year and coming up short in the 18U semifinals to the eventual champion, 502 7v7 finished the job this year by going 8-0 and walking away with the tournament championship. We got a chance to catch them in one game on Saturday during pool play, in which they outscored their three opponents 92-21. They would then win five in a row on Sunday, including a shutout win over The Pride in the championship game. This team was made up of standouts all over the Louisville area. Some were seniors looking for a little more competition before graduating and others were younger prospects hungry for that exposure and opportunity to grow as a player. Here were five players from the champs that stood out to us this weekend.
Chris Wilson Chris Wilson 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Trinity | 2025 State KY – 2025 Athlete
2025 standout Chris Wilson Chris Wilson 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Trinity | 2025 State KY might have had the play of the game in their championship win. Wilson caught a little slant, weaved in between a few defenders and was untouched as he crossed into the end zone. It was an impressive play and it showcased his top abilities when the football is in his hands. Quick but powerful moves and overall agility. Wilson was one of the smaller players on the field but we say this every time when it comes to smaller prospects. You can’t tackle what you can’t catch. And on that play in particular, you couldn’t even get a hand on him. Wilson is a shifty athlete to keep an eye on moving forward at running back and in the slot.
Colin Jefferson Colin Jefferson 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Male | 2026 State KY – 2026 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
We had a good idea of who we were going to write about for 502 7v7 heading into the championship game and then had to add another name. 2026 wide receiver and defensive back Colin Jefferson Colin Jefferson 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Male | 2026 State KY became an obvious choice to add to this breakdown after his performance in the title game and then watching it back on film. We don’t have official stats or anything close to that but it felt like Jefferson was their leading receiver in the title game and was just incredibly consistent. He made contested catches, ran good routes and always had sure hands. It felt like Jefferson was always open, even when he wasn’t, because he was going to make the catch.
Jeremiah Lynn Jeremiah Lynn 5'11" | 190 lbs | WR Trinity | 2025 State KY – 2025 Wide Receiver
Another consistent player in the title game was 2025 standout Jeremiah Lynn Jeremiah Lynn 5'11" | 190 lbs | WR Trinity | 2025 State KY at wide receiver. Lynn was a player that we noticed a few times throughout the tournament and then watching every single play of the championship game, we focused on a few things. Lynn’s vision when running his routes is excellent as he looks for the soft spots in the defense. He wasn’t the biggest receiver on the field but he has a strong upper body and when there was contact, Lynn didn’t shy away from it. And he made some very tough catches in traffic at times. Lynn is already rated as one of the better wide receivers in Kentucky’s 2025 class and after watching him, we see why.
Kolter Smith Kolter Smith 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Louisville Male | 2024 State KY – 2024 Quarterback
2024 quarterback Kolter Smith Kolter Smith 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Louisville Male | 2024 State KY was one of the standouts from last year’s Music City Mayhem tourney, had a fantastic senior season and he came into this weekend with high expectations. Needless to say, he met those expectations and then some as he led this 502 7v7 offense throughout the two days in Tennessee. A few things really stood out to us about Smith this weekend and the first being his overall poise. He was always on schedule and delivered some absolute strikes all over the field. Smith was also one of the more accurate quarterbacks in attendance. There weren’t many throws that we can remember that didn’t end up in his receiver’s hands.
Malachi Embers Malachi Embers 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Carroll County | 2024 State KY – 2024 Wide Receiver
Our final 502 7v7 standout was ironically one of the first players from this team to stand out to us this weekend. In my first chance to see them play in person on Saturday, 2024 wide receiver Malachi Embers Malachi Embers 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Carroll County | 2024 State KY made a spectacular touchdown catch over a defender. It was a jump ball situation and Embers went up and snagged the ball out of the air. “Head tapper” or “Mossed” or whatever you want to call it, it was a magnificent catch and it set the tone for what the eventual champions were going to do to the competition this weekend. Embers is a good looking athlete that is still looking for his next stop. He should get that opportunity.
