DR7’s 7v7 circuit made their annual stop in the Tulsa area over the weekend. We were able to check in on pool play Saturday and bracket play on Sunday. We saw a ton of Oklahoma talent on display and will have several spotlights throughout the next few days on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. In this article, we’re putting the spotlight on the wide receivers. Now, this weekend’s tournament was loaded with some really good receivers so we’re breaking it down into three categories. Superstars, stock risers and reliable receivers. This post is all about the stars that shined bright. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more breakdowns!
This was the second straight weekend that we saw Moore 2025 standout CJ Simon CJ Simon 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Moore | 2025 State OK after seeing him last weekend at the Under Armour camp. He impressed us there and then he took it to the next level this weekend. Simon played for Hustle Inc 405’s 18U squad and they made a run to the semifinals. We watched them for two games in pool play and Simon was simply running by defenders. Nobody could stay with him or his speed and he proved to be one of the best deep threats in the tournament. On Sunday, he came back and showcased more of the route tree and wasn’t simply running by defenders. He made big catches, contested catches and we are even more impressed with him as a prospect.
Highlights
Stillwater 2027 wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK had a breakout season as just a freshman last fall. After watching Jones in person for three tournaments this offseason, we’re confident that he’s going to be one of the best receivers in the state’s 2027 class. So unfortunately for 6A-2 opponents, you have three more years of trying to contain him. This weekend in particular, Jones was back at it with his playmaking near the red zone. Jones isn’t the biggest wide receiver on the field, although it does feel like he’s getting taller. But it’s his leaping ability and catch radius that makes him such a large target in the passing game and there isn’t much defenses can do to prevent him from making a play.
So let’s state the obvious first. Valliant 2026 star Kenny Golston Kenny Golston 6’1″ | 210 lbs | RB Valliant | 2026 State OK is a running back and not a wide receiver but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t belong on this breakdown. We watched Golston and his C4 18U squad for several games on Saturday and Sunday and the running back was one of the more productive players when we were watching. The thing that stood out the most about Golston’s performance this weekend was his play on third down or near the goal line. It seemed like every time C4 needed a conversion or were threatening to score, Golston found the hole in the defense and attacked it. The Valliant playmaker also showcased the hands. He’s one of the best in Oklahoma’s 2026 class.

Washington 2025 tight end Nate Roberts Nate Roberts 6’4″ | 235 lbs | TE Washington | 2025 State OK has held on to the top overall ranking in the state’s 2025 class for a few ranking updates now. So whenever the number one overall prospect is playing in a tournament, all eyes are going to be on him. Roberts just looks the part physically and he had a really good weekend with Sooner 7’s Alpha 18U squad. We’ve seen Roberts in person a handful of times, both with and without pads on and he is a very impressive prospect. Now, he’s more impressive when the pads come on and he’s allowed to be a physical beast that few defenses can contend with. But this weekend, all eyes were on him and he delivered and performed at a very high level.
Joining Golston on that C4 18U squad was 2026 standout Quincy Shelton Quincy Shelton 6’0″ | WR Hugo | 2026 State OK out of Hugo. Shelton performed really well in our tournament two weeks ago and then he took his game to another level this weekend. Shelton was incredibly productive and after watching him a handful of times in person over the last 15 months, it looks like Shelton has added a few inches and he’s looking more impressive physically. That’s going to make him more of a threat moving forward and his recruitment continues to gain some momentum. He picked up another offer from Colorado State in the last 24 hours and it shows no signs of slowing down. He’s also one of the best two-sport stars in this 2026 class.
