We’ll continue watching this class grow during the next several years and produce rankings updates periodically. These initial ratings are only a starting point.
Here are some guys among the 85 student-athletes on our Watch List poised to rise into future rankings:
Kalolero’s freshman highlight video is packed with potential. While he still must prove himself at the varsity level, the fresh/soph film impresses. He shows traits you can’t teach at the running back position. He’s maneuvers fluidly up field with patience, setting up his blocks and accelerating through the hole before finding an extra gear in the open field. His older brother, Ishara Kalolero (’25), served as Jefferson’s top back last season, rushing for 852 yards (6.1 YPC) and 10 touchdowns in nine games.
Like others discussed here, Ohloff shows excellent potential during his freshman highlights against fresh/soph competition. If what he put on tape last fall translates to the varsity level, presumably next season, we have a real exciting prospect on our hands. He gets off of the snap quickly and does so under control. Ohloff keeps his head up and trusts his eyes in pursuit. He appears to use his hands well in getting off of blocks and in securing tackles.
Williams does about everything during his freshman film besides working at the concession stand. In the first first minute of the highlights, we see him catch a long touchdown, throw for a long score, take a punt to the house and place kick. A little later on, he picks off a pass. Athleticism with position versatility stands out with Williams. I’ll definitely have my eyes open for this kid’s sophomore film.
Miller’s freshman highlights are a mixture of JV and varsity clips. It also combines performances on both sides of the ball. He’s a dynamic running back with quickness. His cutting and vision are sharp, and he reaches top speed fast. Defensively, he’s a physical defensive back that stands up well against the run and can cover. I would expect Miller’s stock to rise significantly in 2024.
Highlights
East boasts a heck of a ’27 class that should help make it a formidable squad in the fall. Anderson likely will move from Watch List to the rankings if he continues improving upon what we can already witness during his freshman film. It’s an impressive package of size and agility that makes him a difficult match up. It helps Anderson separate from blocks and chase down the ball. There’s a lot to like about Anderson’s game with three years of prep football to play.
Highlights
Cooper is the younger brother of Caleb Chebuhar Caleb Chebuhar 6’0″ | 215 lbs | LB Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA , a key player in the helping the Rams to a 5A state-championship three-peat in ’23. Caleb is off to Iowa Central, and Cooper will work to carry on the family legacy. He provides evidence that’s likely to happen during his freshman highlights. He’s a wrecker of the offense’s plans. Cooper fires off the edge with excellent burst and straight-line quickness. Strength and proper hand placement help him get off of blocks. Southeast Polk has featured some dominant defenders in recent years, and the young Chebuhar could be next in line.
When you pop on Jensen’s freshman highlights, a clear description forms – Football Player. He stands out slinging the ball left-handed as a quarterback and illustrates the traits of a well-rounded defensive back. Maybe he ends up developing into a college signal caller. That’d be awesome. If he doesn’t, the athleticism and feel for the game play at other positions. As stated, he shines as a secondary member that can cover and support the run. He delivers plays carrying the ball as a running QB. I’m really intrigued to watch how high Jensen might fly during the upcoming season and beyond.
