An ATH that doubles as a quarterback and defensive back for OABCIG, Raif Jensen Raif Jensen 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH OABCIG | 2027 State IA projects to playing DB at the next level. Some coaches love a good quarterback turned defensive player, and Jensen’s abilities and knowledge on the other side of the ball should certainly translate to wherever he lines up in the defensive backfield.
A rangey safety that can close in on a deep ball with air under it, plus a willing and able tackler that can take down running backs in the open field. His straight-line speed and reaction quickness to the ball and the QB’s eyes make him a threat to find the ball as soon as it’s out or handed off. With a skillset and a frame that brings speed and ball skills to the table in addition to the tackling capability, Jensen would likely project to playing the safety or nickel position.
Already holding an offer from South Dakota in November, Jensen picked up an offer from Northern Iowa on April 25, adding another Missouri Valley Football Conference team as an option for where he plays at his college ball.

Holding down quarterback duties for the Falcons, lefty gunslinger Raif Jensen Raif Jensen 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH OABCIG | 2027 State IA adds a different dynamic to the QB spot that OABCIG hasn’t had since the middle DeJean brother, Beckett was under center in Ida Grove. A mobile quarterback that can take off at any time, Jensen forces opposing defenses to account for him in the run game. He showed why twice against the Wolf Pack, taking off for a run of 70+ yards inside the five of Western Christian and a score from 52 yards out. His lateral quickness and ability to make defenders miss makes him a difficult tackle.
As a passer, Jensen has clearly cultivated some chemistry with DeJean as his go-to receiver when searching for the endzone. On the hitch route to his big wideout, Jensen put the ball where only DeJean could go get it, perfectly placed on his outside and away from the defensive back. On the deep shot, Jensen recognized one-on-one coverage and found DeJean for the easy score.
Likely projected as a defensive back to the next level, Jensen also plays safety for the Falcons. He registered six tackles on Friday.

Previously a quarterback and defensive back for longtime rival, Ridge View, Raif Jensen Raif Jensen 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH OABCIG | 2027 State IA transferred to OABCIG mid-year. He participated in basketball and track during the spring semester and is expected to take over at quarterback and safety for the Falcons this fall.
Far-and-away the best athlete for the Raptors in 2024, Jensen completed 40-of-99 passes for 476 yards and four touchdowns, along with taking 111 carries for 530 yards and three scores. On defense, he totaled 34.5 tackles and five picks. With better offensive weapons around him, Jensen’s production at QB should significantly improve in 2025. He’ll also make the OABCIG passing defense that much more difficult to face.
Another NW Iowa product that has received some interest from Iowa, Jensen has a chance to reach the D1 level as a DB. Playing alongside his P4 recruit teammate in DeJean will only help grow his recruitment.

When you pop on Jensen’s freshman highlights, a clear description forms – Football Player. He stands out slinging the ball left-handed as a quarterback and illustrates the traits of a well-rounded defensive back. Maybe he ends up developing into a college signal caller. That’d be awesome. If he doesn’t, the athleticism and feel for the game play at other positions. As stated, he shines as a secondary member that can cover and support the run. He delivers plays carrying the ball as a running QB. I’m really intrigued to watch how high Jensen might fly during the upcoming season and beyond.
