Continue ReadingThe first thing that pops with Dalton is that he passes the eye test. At 6’5 275 he has a great frame and length for a sophomore. In the run game Pete shows good strength and pad level as he’s able to routinely stand up and drive defenders backwards. In the pass game Dalton has quick feet and an athletic pass set. He has the upper body strength to finish violently. One thing I really liked in his film was when his QB scrambled and ended up on the out of bounds and on the ground of the opposing sidelines Liam hustled to go get his QB. Based on my evaluation, Dalton is a D1 talent with P4 upside.
Eglitis is another offensive tackle who already possesses the length and size that college coaches covet. He’s 6’7 with long arms that he does a great job of using to his advantage. In the pass game he’s athletic and has a strong kick step that he can use to gain quick depth to cutoff the speed rush. In the run game he has the athleticism and foot speed to get out and pull or get to the second level. Pete has the frame that he’ll easily be able to fill out to 300 pounds with good weight. He just needs to continue to get stronger and more physically dominant. If he can do that, he’ll end up at a P4 school with a floor of a G5.
Highlights
Miller is a young man who I’ve liked since his freshman season. He’s a young corner who’s comfortable in soft or press man coverage. He has the heavy hands and the physicality to play press man against bigger receivers and to slow them into their route. He has the loose hips and speed to turn and run with smaller and faster receivers. Because of the talent at a place like Pickerington North he’s had to wait his turn to get his varsity time and has he’s done that he’s impressed. He plays with good awareness and is a willing tackler in the run game. Miller has 8 D1 offers at the moment, and I expect him to continue to add to that list.
Highlights
McBride had a breakout sophomore season for the Rangers catching 60+ balls for 1,200+ yards. He’s a versatile receiver who’s comfortable playing inside or out. He has the short space quickness to run your bubble screens and reverses, but he also has the long speed to create separation and stretch the field vertically. He has well put together frame and the strength to go up and win contested catches. He’s a natural hands catcher who’s smooth in his transition to his turn and go. McBride is a two-way player for the Rangers as he also lines up at cornerback. Jovan currently holds offers from 4 of the 6 Ohio MAC schools. With a good camp season, he should continue to grow that list.
Lathan put up a big sophomore season for Bishop Hartley as he ran for over 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season. Lathan is a really strong between the tackles runner. He shows great vision and is a really explosive one cut runner who gets north and downhill in a hurry. One thing in his film that I really liked was on the second play of his hudl film. On this play his team in a 4th and 3 down and distance where they were trying to run out the clock and ice the game with 37 seconds left on the opponent’s 24-yard line. They run a counter trey play that gets Lathon free to the outside and he has the mental discipline to down the ball at the one-yard line. A really heady and selfless play by a young player. Lathan has several D1 G5 offers that he’ll look to build on this offseason.
