McBride continues to be a thorn in the side of defenses that have to match up against him. He finished with eight catches for 82 yards and three touchdowns. He’s got incredible athleticism. He’s a jump-ball threat in the red zone. He’s great after the catch and can make himself slippery to tackle in open space. After missing half of last season, it’s clear that Jovon wants to make a statement this season.

McBride picked up an injury that kept him out of the first few weeks of the season, but I saw him on his return game. McBride didn’t wait to get going, as he had two touchdowns before halftime and picked up several 3rd and 4th down conversions in the win. McBride exposed the Amanda-Clearcreek defense with his explosiveness and athleticism. He does well at high-pointing balls and going vertical.

McBride had 63 catches for 1,239 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore. Expectations were high for the 6-foot-1 receiver’s junior season and he has delivered. McBride wins contested catches, shows good leaping ability to high-point the ball, and can run through contact after the catch.
